Even that must have some risks!

The company I worked for had tough drug rules, even warning employees about being around the smoke can affect a test and get you fired.

Or ‘how about alcohol’ huh?

Try smoking some - let us know how it turns out.

Secondhand pot smoke can be detected in the blood of non pot smokers. It can cost you a job.

NIH sez only with extreme exposure =>

These results demonstrate that extreme cannabis smoke exposure can produce positive urine tests at commonly utilized cutoff concentrations.

However, positive tests are likely to be rare, limited to the hours immediately post-exposure, and occur only under environmental circumstances where exposure is obvious.

“And let the smokers determine where I can go in public?”

And yet you want to do exactly that to others. I love it when faux conservative liberal fascists show their true colors. Thanks.

Funny, since I think the same of smokers. I guess we’ll see who wins that war in the end. Smokers don’t help their case though, when the whole world becomes their ash tray. (Mimes flicking a cigarette butt out of a car window.)

Actually, it is the new kid rave now. Very dangerous way to consume alcohol, as the usual defenses against alcohol poisoning don’t work.

How is allowing a business (property) owner the freedom to decide if he wants to allow smoking in his or her establishment fascism? Just put a sign on the front door. “This establishment allows/does not allow smoking.”

Then you let the consumer decide. That would be Liberty.

But our friend LevinFan takes it upon himself to decide for everyone. And he’s quite happy to use government guns to force his will on others. THAT, my friend, is the very definition of Fascism.

“I still remember my mother refusing to roll down the car window,”

Awful.

I certainly hope you’ve eliminated her from your life.

Oh, I’m mostly fine with that. At least for bars and such. Not so much for grocery stores and such.

But bluntly, more and more businesses are catering to nonsmokers. Smoking is a dying idiocy. It preys on the young and stupid, so that the most insidious addiction can haunt them for life. And that, I’m not okay with.
Tobacco manufacturers know that people don’t start smoking later in life. If you don’t get them when they are young, you won’t get them as a addicted customer.

“Awful.

She’s still my mother, and finally did quit that smoking habit, just recently. Smoking that is. And she did later learn a bit more respect, something smokers aren’t known for. But she sure hated being asked to roll down the window. Just a crack seemed enough for her. Of course smoke doesn’t magically go through tiny wholes like a vacuum is sucking on it.

Worse was when she smoked pregnant with my brother. She swears his ‘special’ issues are because she was ‘too old’ at 30 and light change. She doesn’t want to admit her smoking is the cause.

That’s mighty white of you.

Can you share with the class exactly why you think that grocery store owners have fewer property rights than bar owners?

Take your time.

How do you know her smoking is the cause?

I smoked through 5 pregnancies and had 5 healthy kids,as did my friends. We all smoked in those days-—even the obstetrician and pediatrician.

I was over 30 when I had 2 of them.

A lot of plain old luck is involved.

We’ll start with that bars are a luxury, and buying food is not. Most people take their kids grocery shopping. Few take their kids drinking.

You’re beating a dead horse. Regardless of my views on smoking, it is dying. Only fools start smoking anymore. Fact is, most businesses won’t cater to smokers as you wish. If their choice was smokers or nonsmokers, how many businesses would toss aside nonsmokers, and how many will simply tell smokers “Sorry, but to shop here, you can’t smoke.”

You can never know for sure. What we do know is that odds do go up. I know smokers don’t want to believe that any more than they do second hand smoke, but it is clearly true, and logical. You can’t pollute your own body without your child sharing.
Things do go wrong, but you can also affect the odds with bad choices.

I don’t know when you had yours. This was back in ‘90. She was well aware of the warnings about smoking and pregnant. She won’t even consider she might have done it. She just insists that 30 is ‘too old’ for having kids. Nonsense.

I had mine in the late 50s and early 60s——the tail end of the Boomers and we had large families.

My generation smoked a lot, including pregnant women.

I don’t smell pot often, but when I do I prefer that it not be second hand.

Note the quotes around 'smoking' - it's actually vaporization of alcohol. Smoking alcohol would involve ignition; I don't recommend it.
