House, Senate Republicans Prepare to Legalize Bribery (Push to lose Congress in 16 begins)
redstate.com ^ | Nov. 17, 2014 | Erick Erickson

Sources in both the House and Senate are expressing grave concern to me that Republicans are about to legalize bribery. If you will recall, several years ago after a host of arrests of members of Congress, indictments, and bridges to nowhere, public outrage caused Congress to ban earmarks.

The earmarks were serving as bribery. Politicians would get earmarks sent to state and local public institutions and congressional leaders would grant and withhold earmarks as bribes to get congressmen to vote particular ways.

Senate Republicans are dragging their feet and there are, according to Senate sources, strong signals the GOP intends to end the Senate earmarks ban. Just yesterday, Senate Republicans refused to approve the earmarks ban.

And this is why liberal Republicans are more damaging than democrats.

Anyone really think RINO’s would advance conservatism?

Yeah, but at least Republicans will lower the amount of the earmarks! If Democrats had won, they'd be billions of dollars apiece!

So you better vote Republican, or else we'd REALLY be in trouble < /S >

This is the date of the article you linked to. Not the date you cite.

The House rejected earmarks a couple days ago.

That's not on me. That's on RedState.com. That's who I "cited".

Look at the date on the upper left corner of the website. It clearly says Nov. 17, 2014.

Nov. 14th was a Friday. The headline clearly starts with "NEXT WEEK". You do the math.

Just clarifying the date it was written.
Since the House Republicans had rejected earmarks days ago it was obvious.

Was it just published on their website today?

As near as I can tell it was posted today.

Why Erick Erickson would write that a vote was coming up this week when it happened last week is beyond me.

Thanks for the info.

Will republicans go back to just slopping at the pig trough the way they did during the Bush 43 era?

They had their chances then to implement a lot of the things they have been complaining about but didn’t put the country before their own interests.

If they had acted more responsibly then, it is probable that Obama would never have been elected.
