WILLIAM BRANGHAM: The town of Westminster, Massachusetts population 7,300 is a small, quiet community about an hour west of Boston.
When the local health board holds meetings, it usually happens here in this room, where you can get advice about things like septic tanks and mosquito control. But not on this day. This meeting Wednesday night had to be moved to the local elementary school because the town is up in arms.
MAN: You people make me sick!
WILLIAM BRANGHAM: Why so mad? That Board of Health is proposing to make Westminster the first town in the entire country to completely ban the sale of tobacco.

What goes around comes around. I hope they include chew, snuff, and those idiotic electric nicotine huffers.
That’s not the point.....a “HEALTH BOARD” got together in this town and decided they were going to ban tobacco. Without a vote, without any democratic process. Through their fake “authority” they decided they know what is better for you then you yourself.
It has nothing to do with regulation, or believing smoking isn’t a bad thing. It’s my right to smoke if I want, I can buy a pack of cigarettes. That’s fine. The wrong thing is that a small group of men can decide that for me....that is anti-American, anti-Constitution, anti-Everything. If there were a vote to ban smoking, and it passed. Well the majority didn’t want people smoking anymore.
By the way, tobacco is already HIGHLY, HIGHLY, HIGHLY regulated, taxed, and monitored. Guess what, it hasn’t dissuaded anyone from smoking tobacco like man has done from the beginning of time.
People in Westminster aren't taking to the streets to ban the scourge of cigarettes. It's just a group of attention-seeking politicians.
OK, I understand the opposition to the health board. Do you support the right of the people or the legislature to ban cigarettes?
I suppose if the citizens started a movement to ban cigarettes in their community and got their elected representatives to put it into law, they could do that. But that’s not the case here. Just wanted to point that out.
Easy button buy all your monthly items you normally buy, from the next town over. The city will take a sales tax hit and will bow to the smoker. Try to get all their friends and relatives to do the do the same. Impose a boycott on all city functions that require a donation or ticket! Tell the fireman to put his boot back on at the intersections! Start a drive to recall your fat cat politicians!
The Legislature, sure go for it.
Just don't bitch when tax revenues decrease and crime related to cigarettes sold on the black market increase.
Here's the thing though. These do-gooders on the Health Board is seeking national attention, and the next thing you know they'll get a photo-op with Obola and some Rat will sponsor a law abolishing tobacco use.
This is how it starts with Leftists. You might think Westminster will only be affected, but it'll be nationwide in a heartbeat.
That's not what's happening in this case.
“The people have a fundamental right to proscribe items”
Regardless, is it not desirable to promote freedom? Although the people “can” vote to limit your freedom (with certain specified exceptions contained in the Bill of Rights), freedom-loving people should resist such efforts.
Can society proscribe Penicillin? Oxycontin?
Can society have dry counties?
Can society regulate prostitution?
Drango has been a fascist on this topic for years.
Quick, buy a lot 1 block outside the town limits and heavily stock all the tobacco products that you can find...a get rich scheme sure to work!!....like all the booze joints on the edge of all the dry counties in Kentucky.

GFY!
Ohioman has been a pimper of death and addiction for years.
Telling people how and what HE sees fit to regulate.
Just a garden variety know-it-all Nanny Stater.
I guess you are dying to get in the last word as usual. The truth is that most here (myself included) are tired/disagree with your act.
What is it you believe it can?
Anything?
Then you doing believe in God-given rights, but only state-granted privileges.
Thanks for outing yourself. What are you doing on Free Republic?
