The Great Immigration Betrayal
New York Times ^ | November 15, 2014 | Ross Douthat

IN the months since President Obama first seem poised — as he now seems poised again — to issue a sweeping executive amnesty for millions of illegal immigrants, we’ve learned two important things about how this administration approaches its constitutional obligations.

First, we now have a clear sense of the legal arguments that will be used to justify the kind of move Obama himself previously described as a betrayal of our political order. They are, as expected, lawyerly in the worst sense, persuasive only if abstracted from any sense of precedent or proportion or political normality.

Second, we now have a clearer sense of just how anti-democratically this president may be willing to proceed.

The legal issues first. The White House’s case is straightforward: It has “prosecutorial discretion” in which illegal immigrants it deports, it has precedent-grounded power to protect particular groups from deportation, and it has statutory authority to grant work permits to those protected. Therefore, there can be no legal bar to applying discretion, granting protections and issuing work permits to roughly half the illegal-immigrant population.

This argument’s logic, at once consistent and deliberately obtuse, raises one obvious question: Why stop at half? (Activists are already asking.) After all, under this theory of what counts as faithfully executing the law, all that matters is that somebody, somewhere, is being deported; anyone and everyone else can be allowed to work and stay. So the president could “temporarily” legalize 99.9 percent of illegal immigrants and direct the Border Patrol to hand out work visas to every subsequent border crosser, so long as a few thousand aliens were deported for felonies every year.

The reality is there is no agreed-upon limit to the scope of prosecutorial discretion in immigration law because no president has attempted anything remotely like

From the New York Times, nonetheless.

I’m pretty sure I just saw a pig fly by the window...

“After blacks realize what happened to them, they’ll want to lynch Obama.”

When do you think that might be? In about 15-20 years?

What if they are not working?

I am trying to find an unbiased and near 100% accurate source. I thought the Census Bureau might be the place. Maybe but I do not know enough to get the data I want. I did get some data that suggests that scores of working-age adults are not working. But I cannot prove legal or illegal, so far. Skip to Census table for working-age adults born in Mexico and living here

For anyone who might be interested in how the Cencus Bureau provides access to much of its data..

The following is entirely superfluous -- except for anyone who might be interested in taking a look at the U.S. Census Bureau Data Ferret. They have alternative, less comprehensive means to get tables also.

There are plenty of tutorials at Census and other places -- this serves only as an effort to make us aware that it exists.

What follows can be for any country. I started with Mexicorruption because its government is driving their unwanted citizens here, interfering with our internal affairs to alleviate social problems in Mexico that they themselves created due to their avarice and matching criminal activities. IMO.

I expected to find appropriate U.S. Census data but found instead the Data Ferret, make your own tables. The data options make it pretty complicated though the procedures are fairly straightforward, I still have a long way to go. My example is very simple.

U.S. Census Data Ferret Requires allowing popups and Java.

Log in, requires email but it's suppose to be for when the size of the table is so great you can have it emailed to you hours latter.

You can also use this Table Creator

For Data Ferret after entering your email address click Get Data Now or first do the Tutorials, Examples, or other options.

The first screen is a collection of data sets.

So I choose

Then

Now I'm back where I can simply move on to the get that "table" or I can select more variables (see below); first I created the "table" using just the one variable.

So I clicked the Step2 Button and that gave me

The next screen is the spread sheet..

.

That returns 6,745,048 as the value for

Which I took to mean that of the individuals born in Mexico and living here enough participated in the survey to estimate that 6,745,048 people born in Mexico are now living here.. legally and illegally.

Close the window with the spread sheet. The other windows remain and you can add variables and get back to the spread sheet window to create other tables.

I added my second variable

My two variables are:

For Mexico I get: Total PENATVTY = 6,745,048 w/o PTERNWA, Total PENATVTY = 4,213 w/ PTERNWA, Average PTERNWA = 70.6, Std Err PTERNWA = 3.06.

For Canada I get: Total PENATVTY = 885,582 w/o PTERNWA, Total PENATVTY = 446 w/PTERNWA, Average PTERNWA = 129.3; Std Err PTERNWA = 18.94

I do not recall seeing it but I sure think that Total PENATVTY w/PTERNWA ought to be in thousands.

Mexico on the left and Canada on the right.

Using the alternative and simpler Create Tables I get

Totals Nativity - Detailed All people (in thousands)
................................Naturalized
.................Native.........Citizen.....Not a Citizen
306,394.....267,517.....17,026......21,852

Totals Nativity - Detailed Adult Civilian Workers (in thousands)

.................Native.........Citizen.....Not a Citizen
155,790.....131,473.....10,802......13,515

If I live long enough I may be able to get sophisticated, current and very useful tables. Are all those 13+ million workers actually working?

To: All
Congress better understand that the very future of our republic is at stake here---Obama's amnesty is intended to precipitate the overthrow of the US govt.

================================================

FREEPER IOWA CORNMAN POSTED: I suggest we start raising hell with our representatives that we want no funding of any of this......We need injunctive relief immediately in the federal courts to enjoin any federal agency from implementing this unconstitutional madness.

==================================================

Capitol switchboard...1-866-220-0044.
Call or write your legislator ASAP.

MESSAGE: tell Congress that your midterm vote was specific---a demand that they fight tooth and nail---using both tooth and nail----to demolish the Obama/Reid amnesty plan to force American taxpayers to subsidize the expansion of the Democrat party w/ foreign voters.

AMERICANS HAVE BEEN VERY PATIENT: Americans demand the Republican leadership tell Obama: "If the president unilaterally moves to augment the power of the Executive Branch in an unprecedented and unconstitutional manner via E/O'ing amnesty, then the Legislative Branch will need to increase its powers in order to maintain the balance of powers called for in the US Constitution.

FREEPER EDWIN LAND INSIGHTFULLY POSTED: The Senate can do this in an unprecedented but completely constitutional manner, by providing that the filibuster rule is suspended completely until such time as the president withdraws his executive aggrandizement.

RATIONALE--Obama's temporary amnesty E/O requires temporary suspension of the rule. That should also include Congress passing laws without the president signing the bill.

If it is okay for the president to overreach, then it is okay for Congress to overreach. Obama forgets that the Congress---and Americans---can also say, “We have been patient.”

================================================

THIS NEEDS TO GO VIRAL----STOP OBAMA IN HIS TRACKS :

(1) Fund every penny that is budgeted now.....except defund all DHS, ICE, HHS and USCIS' rubber-stamp activities. Defund anything and everything that directly and indirectly deals with amnesty: work permits, green cards for illegals, gravy train subsidies, re-situating unaccompanied minors w/ families. Then let Obama defend his amnesty E/O or take the blame for the entire shutdown himself.

(2) As a further warning----no votes on ANY Obama nominees until Jan 20, 2017. No judges, No Attorney General, no sub-cabinet secretaries. NOTHING----thanks to the SCOTUS ruling, Obama could not recess-appoint ANYONE, if the House declares the Congress is always in session.

================================================

Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-ALA), has set up an active war room dedicated to undermining Obama's plans on immigration, and is next in line to chair the Budget Committee. From that perch, he would have the power to set spending parameters that undermine the president's moves.
