Its called a Stingray: A cellphone surveillance device so top secret, law enforcement agencies dont even like to admit they have it. But KPIX 5 has confirmed Oakland, San Francisco and San Jose police are using Stingrays to track suspects.
Now, Fremont Police and the Alameda County District Attorneys office are applying for federal grants to get a new version of Stingray, called Hailstorm. The use of the devices is increasing, potentially at the expense of your privacy.
You may think you are private when youre talking on your cell phone, think again. From an undercover car or even strapped to a detectives chest walking down the street, police are using a device called a Stingray to gather the serial numbers of surrounding phones.
Theyre chasing a target, but sweeping up your identity, activity and location as well.

I don’t blame you at all. We all do what we can to protect ourselves.
In fact it is rather hard if they weren’t tracked by police at the time.
Yet it is not impossible if the cell company keeps logs of phones getting hooked to their base stations.

Well, if you have nothing to hide, what’s the big problem? I could careless if they know about my trips to the grocery store or calling for a pizza of Saturday night. I have broken no laws and will be more than happy to allow them to hear what I say. On the other hand, if I were one who is conducting illegal business (drug selling for example), go for it.

Following this same logic you have to agree with unwarranted searches and so on.
It is not that freedom-loving people have to opt for.
We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that weve set. Weve got to have a civilian national security force thats just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded. Barack Hussein Obama, 7/2/2008They dont call it a Civil Defense force, that would imply we need (or perhaps that we deserve) defense. The official name is National Civilian Community Corps.
I think of it as the NatCCC, or more simply, as the NatCs...
To the contrary, I'd observe that it's really quite easily done. Matter of fact, anybody else with some reallynotallthatsophisticated electronic equipment and what, let's say a couple of hour's worth of training would be able to do the same.
Maybe someone who doesn't like me or you.
Now that I think about it, really the hot setup for something like this would be a really cool TV truck with one of those telescoping elliptical dishes on it.
Hidden in plain sight, and most effective. All it takes is a little money and it would only take three of them at the most to track someone down within a meter or two.
Remember back a few years. A couple from Florida using some stuff from Radio Shack inadvertently recorded wireless calls of I believe newt that somehow made it to the news papers.
A democrat congress critter paid big time $$
Don’t get me wrong, I agree with you, but you said “krauts” and I just wanted to work “NatCs” into the conversation...
Nut-job Conspiracy Theory Ping!

Yes, now that you remind me I recall that... inadvertently, right... /s
