WASHINGTON (AP) House Republicans debated Friday how to respond to President Barack Obama's expected executive action on immigration, with GOP leaders anxious to craft a solution that satisfies the demands of their most conservative members without courting a government shutdown.
Options under consideration include suing the president to overturn his action, or passing a stand-alone bill to try to stop him. Some are pushing for House Republicans to write their own immigration bill something they've been unable to do in the past two years to show they are serious about acting and pre-empt Obama.

That's an odd statement from the ap?
I seem to remember a bill was passed, let me think, yea, here it is.
House passes $694 million border bill By Deirdre Walsh, CNN updated 1:14 PM EDT, Sat August 2, 2014
Washington (CNN) -- In a late-night vote after a bitterly partisan debate, the House of Representatives passed a $694 million border bill Friday, but the measure has no chance of becoming law.
The vote was almost entirely on party lines, 223-189, with just one Democrat, Texas Rep. Henry Cuellar, voting for it. Four Republicans opposed the legislation.
The bill proposes to give the Department of Homeland Security more than $400 million for additional border security and law enforcement measures. It would allocate more than $20 million to speed up the deportation process by accelerating the judicial process, and also would set aside millions for National Guard border efforts and temporary housing for unaccompanied minors, among other things.
The measure that passed Friday also included a change to a 2008 anti-trafficking law to make it easier to send home the unaccompanied children from Central American countries.p> The Democratic-led Senate had already left Washington to start a five-week summer recess after it was unable to pass its own legislation to give President Barack Obama some of the money he's requested to address the massive influx of migrants at the nation's southwestern border.
At a news conference Friday, President Barack Obama dismissed the House GOP measure as "a message bill" and vowed to veto if it came across his desk.
I can write an immigration bill in 3 words:
Enforce
Existing
Law
Yes, we again gave them more seats in Congress so they can mull.
Oh, but “it’s better than Reid” and “we have to stop Obama”.
If the R’s were smart (questionable), they would start with a bill containing those elements where there is consensus in the caucus... Committing to revisit and sort out questions about the more complex and contentious issues later. That would keep the black hat on Obama. Don’t count on it, however.
0bama will do what he want UNTIL the government is shut down.
So, the GOPe is preemptively declaring defeat.
Idiots.
What's to mull, secure the damn borders!
Existing law is dead.

Here is an immigration bill. That amnesty bill that the gang of 14 or however many wrote it, take the bill back up.
Break down every item on that bill to a single page, starting with sealing the border. The last sentence of the bill states that funding will not be provided until th previous bill completes and is 100% implemented.
Give the seal the border bill to Obama. And walk away.
Already showing thier cards and what complete idiots they are
precisely, my FRiend
GOP: The UN of politics.
Pass only a short term clean CR through January, then defund the effort next year!
The AP - We will continue to run shotgun for Obama the dictator untill our bones are rotten. The AP, battenning down in the Berlin bunker with King Obola, the absolute ruler of America.
BTTT!
I guess this means the “GOP is chewing cud” while the mad cow is setting fire to the pasture.

My post: That 1982 Supreme Court ruling is the reason we need Constitutional amendments like the following to try to control illegal immigration:
1. "School attendance: Only citizens, legal residents, those with special student visas can attend elementary, high school, and colleges in the United States."
2. "One parent must be a citizen before a newborn child is given automatic citizenship."
3. Felony: We must finally get very serious and declare that crossing the border illegally is a felony. It sounds mean to call it a felony, but we must do it, if we will ever have any chance of controlling our borders. Having the same illegals crossing our borders over and over is wrong, wrong, and wrong.
Illegal immigrant parents come to the United States for the wonderful benefits that their children can receive, like a quality education and great health care. Can you blame them for making the dangerous, long trip with their young children, or sending their children by themselves with the hope that the United States will automatically let them stay?
I don't understand how a child can illegally cross the southern border one day and automatically be eligible to enroll in public school the next day. That is wrong.
Impeach the bastard!
Time to knock off all of the “mulling”. Impeach the SOB!
The headline should read GOP readying for surrender, deciding who will carry the white flag.
Just as we never believed the claims of Obamacare which would somehow lower costs, none of us believe that making all these illegals legal will be cheaper in the long run. Adding in 5 million (and who believes it stops there?) to our social safety net cannot possibly be a savings. The left throws around numbers telling us how amnesty will save social security, will add jobs.
Are there “Gruber’s” behind those studies? Theres no single (laughing) comprehensive bill to target here but rather numerous studies. Who are the authors? Do we have the same sort of time bombs out there in their own words which indict their work?
I personally don’t have the skills to locate the information. It seems to me however we have plenty of savvy people on our side who do.
Motion seconded...
