That was uncalled for.

I don’t know the Muslim religion. But wouldn’t Muslims normally regard something like the National Cathedral as “defiled” for prayer purposes? In other words, are Muslims simply trying to spite Christians by using the National Cathedral for prayer?

On August 23, 2011 the first recorded earthquake to hit Washington DC caused damage to the Washington Monument and the National Cathedral closing both for a period of time.

Guess that warning shot wasn't enough.

Uhhhh yes. But that isn’t relevant. Our nation is not Christian, so why is everyone upset?

Have they had ‘gay marriages’ performed there yet or is it still pending? That would be one heck of a scheduling snafu.

From OnIslam.net, on the subject 'should a muslim enter a church':

... it may even be highly recommended depending on the nature of your visit and the circumstances. We know that the Caliph `Umar ibn Al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), while in Jerusalem, was taken around in the ancient Church by the patriarch, but he refused to pray inside. When asked about it he said, "I am afraid, if I were to do so, Muslims might later claim it as a prayer place or a musalla.”

A sacrilege and total desecration of the cathedral - and a big “ FU “ to America and all people of good will everywhere. Why not just erect a nice big golden statue of Satan and get it over with ?

It’s a building. Buildings don’t last forever. They crumble, they fall. The honor of some stone and wood is not the important matter at stake. Maybe it SHOULD lose its honor, then people will think about the God that needs to be honored above all if all is to be well.

The abominations of desolation do their worst harm, not in buildings, but in hearts.

Yep. Despite its name, the Washington National Cathedral is not an official U.S. government church, which is prohibited by the Constitution. However, the Episcopal church, which is funded by private donations, does possess important symbolic value and regularly hosts official events, such as presidential inaugurations and funerals.

So the stupidity is with the Episcopal Church. But we already knew that. They were the first to ordain gay bishops.

What they claim, and what God backs up, are two different stories.

If liberal means acknowledging truths, then liberal is better to be in some circumstances.

Trying to baptize a secular entity into the Lord never did work. Influence can be exerted upon it, but only people’s own choice can make them Christian or not.

Some modern events, as distressing as they are, may clarify affairs.

Last January or so they said it would be six months or a year before they had actual ‘gay marriage’ ceremonies, so you’re saying they have had them there? I looked briefly but couldn’t find anything. Is that where Ginsberg officiated a ‘gay marriage?’

Liberal does not mean acknowledging truths.

My comment is due to your illogical non-sequitar rhetorical question.

It is reflective of liberal logic and ignorance.

Whether the National Cathedral should or should not hold a Muslim service has nothing to do with whether or not the US is a “Christian nation”.

I’m not saying that they have been held at the National Cathedral, I’m talking about the DENOMINATION that controls the cathedral — the Episcopalians.

Episcopalians have already voted in their convention to authorize an official liturgy for blessing same-sex unions.

And as for the National Cathedral, they have already announced that they would now also hold weddings for same-sex couples.

Are you implying Franklin Graham is lazy?

That was a tacky and unwarranted snark on your part. If you know anything at all about Franklin Graham, you should know that he’s extremely bold and consistent in sharing the gospel. Regardless of the subject being discussed, he manages to interject the message that there is one way to enter heaven and that Jesus is that one way.

Do you seriously think preaching on the corner is a better use of his time than tending to Samaritan’s Purse’s charity work all over the globe, especially while Ebola rages in Africa? Besides, his social media comment likely reached many more people than his standing on the corner outside the now-tainted cathedral preaching the gospel.

While your post attempts to diminish Rev. Graham, it only succeeds in diminishing you.

I know the Episcopalians have it in jurisdictions where it is recognized by civil law, like DC. I was trying to find out if they actually had any ceremonies yet in the Nat. Cathedral. You would think that would have been a story somewhere—first ‘gay marriage’ performed in NC.’ From your article:

“Dean Hall said that the cathedral marries only couples who are congregants, volunteers, donors or graduates of the cathedral’s schools, but that there are no gay couples yet “in the pipeline.”
