Former President George W. Bush has a simple explanation for why he almost never criticizes his successor: He feels it undermines the office of the presidency.
In an interview that aired Thursday night on Fox News' "Hannity," Bush insisted he would not attack President Barack Obama even though he continued to have strong opinions about national politics.
"I don't think it's good for the country to have a former president undermine a current president; I think it's bad for the presidency for that matter," Bush said, according to video posted by Mediaite.

I am all for traditional courtesy; but Obama has consistently sought to undermine all of the cultural & moral bases for traditional courtesy! This has never been more obvious than his antics in the last few days, which show a continuing effort to sabotage the American way of life, as it has been understood even by most "liberals," through the generations.

W should just shut up or put up....well, we know he won’t put up, so he really should just shut up.
I don’t understand to this day, why former President Bush never defended himself from all of the criticisms of his administration / his decisions were rarely defended. He is a good man though, I just don’t see our Founders allowing the naysayers to stifle their passions. I have such mixed thoughts for George Bush personally, since I worked very hard for him in the grassroots; then to see him to do things that I never thought he would do.

It’s extremely classy given his unique position that he has decided not to criticize the sitting president. But his statement can very easily be taken as meaning that criticizing the president and therefore the government is, in general, inappropriate. He gives Obama too easy an out. It’s as if he accepts the blame for all of Obama’s failures. Sometimes concerns for your country should outweigh civility. I’m tired of Republican who refuse to stand up and fight, I’m tired of Republicans who put civility above doing what is right. He was the best president of the modern erra, other than Reagan, but he wasn’t exactly liberty minded. As pathetic as it is for Obama to blame everything on G W Bush, their are certain things like the patriot act that need to be blamed on him. He set the stage for most of what Obama is doing now, and I will call him a statist and continue to call him a statist. Someone has to stand up for me, someone has to stand up for my freedom. The Republican party needs to do better than be a mouthpiece for a different set of elitists who aren’t being served by the Democrats.
