GEORGE W. BUSH: This Is Why I Refuse To Criticize Obama
Business Insider ^ | 11/14/2014 | Colin Campbell

Former President George W. Bush has a simple explanation for why he almost never criticizes his successor: He feels it undermines the office of the presidency.

In an interview that aired Thursday night on Fox News' "Hannity," Bush insisted he would not attack President Barack Obama even though he continued to have strong opinions about national politics.

"I don't think it's good for the country to have a former president undermine a current president; I think it's bad for the presidency for that matter," Bush said, according to video posted by Mediaite.

Is it just the President he excuses from criticism? What about unconstitutional acts of Congress or the Supreme Court?

Again, Bush’s priorities are convoluted. We are a nation ruled by law not man. What should be revered aren’t the acts of fallible man, but the Constitution, our rule of law and only legal bulwark for protecting our God-given freedoms from the tyranny of the the rule of man.

Since when do Americans keep their mouths shut as the country slides into the abyss of total government corruption?

Once again, GWB is FOS.

The “Office” is more important than the country. That is the same way the establishment Republicans regard the Senate. They always put the interest of the institution above the interest of the country.

We need a president who is an American before a president, and Senators who realize the institution exists to serve this country and Constitution.

Obama is destroying the “Office,” and the country.

Democrats and weak-kneed saps of the Republican left are destroying our political institutions.

GWB has more class in his $hit than obola has in his whole family...

Class? No, COWARDICE.

Our Republic is literally being destroyed right before our eyes.

He is silent because he is a coward. He like all Bushes Worship at the Alter of State Power.

I don't have to list the programs put in place by Bush 41,43 that have greatly increased the power of the state over the individual.

No citizen who reveres the United States Constitution can standby in silence in the face of the tyranny that is unfolding from D.C.

When you are part of the elite-class(beneficiary)it doesn't matter, the serfs will understand and will continue to abide, and step aside, as they bow to their overlords.

GWB is personally unaffected by the policies of Obama. It is easy for him to stay aloof. However as a former president he took an oath to protect and defend the constitution and that oath didn’t end when he left office. If Obama is a threat to the constitution then Bush has an obligation to speak out.

But he didn’t defend the constitution when he was president either

I understand what you are saying, but a bad example. Madison and Jefferson were as close politically and personally as any two combinations of Presidents I can think of. Madison served in the Jefferson administration as his Secretary of State and before that was the legislative leader of Jefferson’s political party. At the time, Secretary of State was considered the last rung to the top. I cannot think of one instance where Jefferson ripped into Madison, even at the darkest moments of the War of 1812. A better example would be Pierce and Buchanan with Lincoln. However, both men were shunned for doing so.

When was that? Sources, please.

I see you are relentlessly defending the Statist Bush. You must be a GOPe puke.

Bush recently criticized Conservatives for railing on Obama about his golf outings.

I would dare say 99% of his former staff have publicly expressed white-hot hatred for the Tea Party and Conservatives. ( I have no doubt they are in agreement with the Bush Clan).

No one can deny that both Bushes were Statists (ADA, Medicare Part-D, TARP, weak enforcement of the border, etc, etc)

Or course a statist would say that it’s bad to criticize the government.

A former President is not simply a citizen.....he is a former President, and always will be. The man is principled

Your comment is infantile and shows the inroads the left made in besmirching President G W Bush.

Unlike BJ Klinton who, went across the pond to England to besmirch GWB.
