I see these comments bashing someone who was successful in leading the minority party to be the majority party.

I know Mitch McConnell personally. I worked for him when he first got into politics when he was just a county judge. Back then in Kentucky County Judge was a political patronage plumb job. It meant that you could give jobs to all your political hacks. In those days county employees had to give 2% of their pay to the party in power. Judge McConnell got ordinances and laws passed that stopped the practice. He was one of the best organized people I ever saw, if he said he would do it he did it.

I did not vote for him in the primary, I too would like fresh blood, more conservative blood in the Senate but, we could do a whole lot worse than Mitch McConnell.

We should at least give credit where credit it due. Lets see now what he does with it. I expect it to be a whole lot better than Harry Reid.

...well that credit is over 30 years old... I don’t expect him to be much better than Dingy, other than to give Obola cover as a GopE....

we hope that he surprises us, but knowing where his bread is buttered, not holding any breath.

ymmv

I understand and appreciate your point of view. However, the country is heading toward a very serious constitutional crisis between the executive and legislative branches. It is evident that Obama intends to wilfully bypass the congress at every turn and there’s no telling how far he will go to achieve his power grab.

The stark reality is that he has very powerful resources at his disposal that can and will be used against the congress and the American people. Things are going to get very ugly and the democratic foundation of our Republic will be shaken to its core.

Its a truism that extraordinary challenges require extraordinary leadership. I just don’t believe that McConnell (or for that matter Boehner) is up to this type of all out political warfare. The GOP desperately needs an injection of new vitality and leadership with deep conservative convictions who are willing to go to battle with Obama and restore the principles of separation of powers. Just my two cents.
