Maybe the upside here is that it frees Ted Cruz up for more activist, media-oriented endeavors

Hopefully that means he cut a few deals with Cruz in order to get the unanimous vote.

Don’t think there were any deals; just a lot of spinelessness.

Ugh. Aside from all the discussion about how incompetent This guys is, we really need some fresh thinking leading the party. We will never get anywhere if we just keep promoting the next guy in line. Well I guess we can get ready for the, “Same ol’ Democrats, same ol’ Republicans.”

He will assume his new role when the next Congress convenes in January.

And he will assume his old defeatist ways.

Republicans had better enjoy their brief two year majority. 2016 senate races do not appear to favor them at all. Their best hope is to seize the moment and lead, but realistically the chances of that are very slim IMHO.

“reports” said?

Who is “reports” and where/when did he/she say it? Enquiring minds want to know.

Same old mush. Whatever mandate the GOP gained in the last election will be frittered away.

You’re absolutely right. The only salvation for Republicans would have been new leadership in both houses. They’ve alredy blown this chance like they do with everything else.

Let’s see if they can pass an actual budget this year instead of yet another continuing resolution.

Yep. Obama will be writing legislation through expansive executive orders. They will effectively nullify congress, just as Obama has intended.

You can see this path already in the amnesty decree with its sweeping provisions. Its looking like Obama is going to steamroll the hapless and weak Pubblies for the next two years.

And people actually thought electing more Republicans would change things.

At this point a CR would be preferable (i.e., while the Dems still control the senate). Don’t do the actual budget until you have the upper hand in 2015 so you can make the necessary cuts to constrain Obama.

Nope.

Simple math. Ted Cruz and Mike Lee score 100. A few others are in the 90’s. Mark Kirk and a few others are down in the teens

Everyone else falls somewhere in between.

McConnell is about a 50. That’s where you will find your Majority Leader. If it wasn’t McConnell it would just be another GOPe from the Mushy Middle.

And the Dems have just named Lizzie Warren to a leadership post.

My instinct appears to be correct....they are going to run hard towards Economic Populism.

Gotta have something to counter that. Ain’t gonna be McConnell RINOism.
