Artistic/musical talent simply doesn’t correlate with moral or political intelligence. It merely affords a soapbox to the more well-known among those with talent, another venue for them to display their narcissism. And then there are also the peer and sponsorship pressures within their fields that make such nonsense convenient, if not profitable.

For me, liking his music has little to do with liking his politics, or with liking him as a person. And since I’ve never spent a dime on his music in my life, his idiocy in this matter no impact at all on my likelihood of doing so.

So very true. And what is especially insufferable is their claim that, because they are “artists,” they have unique insights and “sensitivity” regarding political matters - and therefore their opinions should be accorded special deference.
