State District Court Judge Sheri Raphaelson, rejected at the polls on Tuesday, says shes not going anywhere and that she plans to stay on the bench through 2016.
In Tuesdays general election, voters in the 1st Judicial District Santa Fe, Los Alamos and Rio Arriba counties voted against retaining Raphaelson. She needed to get 57 percent of the vote to keep her job and came up just short, with about 56 percent voting yes on her retention.
But Raphaelson now says she should never have been on the 2014 ballot in the first place and that she was not due to face voters again until 2016. And she maintains three other 1st Judicial District judges shouldnt have been up for retention either, because none of them has served a full six-year term on the bench.

Giving precedent for American Dictator to stay in power?
You’ll have to pry her gavel from her cold dead hand.
If she refuses to vacate her office, have the police evict her when term is up.
And impeach her and refer her to the state bar association for disbarment proceedings.
Wait! I am part of the ruling class! Don’t you know who I am? What am I supposed to do now, get a job and work like the little people?
“Youll have to pry her gavel from her cold dead hand.”
What do you mean I’ll “have to”? I’d be delighted to!
The time to protest being on the ballot was prior to the election, isn’t that judge?
The time to protest being on the ballot was prior to the election, isnt that right judge?
Simple, have the county sheriff issue a warrant for her arrest for trespassing on government property (the court house)
A Richardson appointee...surprise, surprise!
Kay Hagan's husband Chip pulled a similar one on the Randleman Reservoir. He and some friends bought some little defunct mills with defunct hydropower plants, and then, after the period was over for making claims, said the reservoir cut off his water flow, and walked away with $2 million after the local judge (whom Kay Hagan nominated for a federal judgeship shortly before the ruling) ruled in his favor.
Sickening.
The Ceausescu Alternative is what this judge deserves if this judge refuses to abide by the decision of voters, IMO.
His best caper though was one he didn't win.
Fifteen years ago he tried to get an additional restaurant sales tax put in, to pay for his project of building a major league baseball park in Kernersville (between Winston and Greensboro) to try to lure the Minnesota Twins. The Kernersville Twins??
The Twins pretended to be interested to hold it over Minneapolis' head, and he would've made a fortune from building the empty stadium.
Luckily that one didn't go through.
This just might get VERY interesting!
Good question.
Guess again, toots.
Another lawless judge!!
It would’ve ruined Kernersville too. It’s a nice town.
