A SUSPECTED plot to kill the Queen at a Royal British Legion event ahead of Remembrance Day at the Royal Albert Hall has been foiled by police. British tabloid The Sun reports four Islamic terror suspects are thought to have been planning a knife attack on Her Majesty, 88. It is thought the alleged assassination plot on the Queen emerged during routine surveillance. The Queen and British Prime Minister David Cameron were both informed of the police operation and potential threat, the Sun reports. Heavily-armed counter terrorist police swooped on four addresses across west London and High Wycombe in the Thames Valley overnight and arrested the four men aged 19 to 27 years.

If I were an assassin, going after an 88 year-old titular head of state would be pretty far down my list of priorities.

until the brits restore capital punishment and dole it out a few times, they’re second string. the germans gave up when Dresden got bombed, the Japanese surrendered after two atomic bombs were dropped. you have to display a willingness to apply overwhelming force to your existential threats, then you’ll be left alone. until a younger generation forgets the lesson. at which time you’ll go through the crap all over again.

I totally agree here and am pleased that no one here believes that such a person should suffer hate. She, though Head of State, was not empowered to make decisions in matters of life and death.
I would like to quote something I read about the arrest of the "Yorkshire Ripper". He had murdered unfortunate women he picked up in his truck. He defied detection by Britain's finest. An ordinary policeman on patrol got him on a hunch. "Good old fashioned coppering" was the general consensus.
