Solitary means just that....locked up solo with only contact being COs who shackle him up to go to tiny yard or shower or court
No one can get to him. If they could he would be killed soon enough

There was never this romantic prison code once to the degree moviegoers think but what existed is still there especially over this
Prison is mostly black and Latino and majority drugs or robbery or violence
But they still kill over this same as white 1960s bank robbers did
You hurt children and go to prison you have no allies
Not even the sissies....just other pervs maybe which is why they put them off segregated
But in Blakeneys case he would been in seg anyhow for death warrant....
There are gangs who have no problem with killing women and children. I'm sure you know that.
The view that--as another poster put it--women and children are off limits in the culture of incarcerated criminals, is simply not true. I recall an interview with some tattooed prison sociopath. He explained how he abided by his rules of conduct--violence against adults only. He and his mates probably believed their own fantasies. What was he in for? Killing two teenagers.
There are many cases of people who have committed inhuman crimes, and yet found a nice warm, accepting place in prison to live out the rest of their lives. Richard Speck comes to mind:

Showing them publicly for the first time before the Illinois state legislature, Kurtis pointed out the explicit scenes of sex, drug use, and money being passed around by prisoners, who seemingly had no fear of being caught; in the center was Speck, performing oral sex on another inmate,[41][42] sharing a huge pile of cocaine with an inmate, parading in silk panties, sporting female-like breasts (allegedly grown using smuggled hormone treatments), and boasting, "If they only knew how much fun I was having, they'd turn me loose."[41] The Illinois legislature packed the auditorium to view the two-hour video,[41] but stopped the screening when the film showed Speck performing oral sex on another man.[42]
