Voters put climate change policy in the hands of climate change denier
Los Angeles Times ^ | November 7, 2014 | by David Horsey

People who voted for the GOP in the congressional elections this week may be surprised to learn they chose a militant climate change denier to oversee federal efforts to deal with climate change. The widespread expectation is that, when Republicans take charge of the Senate in January, Oklahoma Sen. Jim Inhofe, a vehement foe of those who believe human exploitation of fossil fuels is contributing to a sharp rise in global temperatures, will be chairman of the Environment and Public Works Committee.

No matter what they may have thought they were doing in the voting booths on Nov. 4, what voters did was put Jim Inhofe in charge of the future of the world.

Many people who voted for the GOP in the congressional elections this week may be pleased to learn they chose a leader who understands and appreciates sound science, to oversee federal efforts to deal with climate change.

There is no such thing as a "climate change denier," because the climate has been changing continuously since the beginning of time.

We are looking forward to sound science in terms of clearly stated, in plain English, the data, methodology, and assumptions associated with any study relating to climate change. What we have today is a cacophony of unsupported assertions, papers, and claims that man kind itself is causing global warming. Is there global warming? It is natural or man made? Is there global cooling? Just because EPA says carbon dioxide is going to kill us all, are they correct?

What we need is a systems analysis of global climate change, not thousands of papers blaming you.

This jerk can’t even fathom that the voters did know what they were doing.

The attempted to win that argument by changing it to “climate change”. That’s what they do with everything; change the name.

Anytime a liberal uses the term “pro-choice” around me I say, “You mean pro-abortion?” and it usually doesn’t sit well with them.

"Climate change" = "We're not sure if it's getting warmer, or it's getting colder -- but it must be doing something."

Perhaps it’s because the voters themselves are coming to realize the whole “global warming” BS is just that... BS.

Yep. When their favored liberal candidates get their asses handed to them as they did on Tuesday night, suddenly they're scratching their heads wondering how the voters could be so stupid as to vote against their interest. My retort is.. "I agree! -- Oh, wait... you're talking about 2014?"

“fossil fuels is contributing to a sharp rise in global temperatures”

Sigh. Apparently, the LAT subscribes to the “big lie” theory: if you repeat a lie enough times, it must be true.

The fact is that there has been no warming now for nearly 19 years even though atmospheric CO2 concentrations are at an all time high. This lack of warming has been acknowledged by the IPCC, the British MET, and almost all legitimate climate modelers.

Almost all of the CO2 climate model predictions have fallen outside of their confidence intervals, which has sent the modelers scrambling for excuses (i.e., factors NOT in their models), like the “missing” heat MIGHT be “hidden” in the oceans. Of course, the “might” is because ocean heat measurements are not confirming this latest theory (excuse).

_________________________________________________________

The whole Climate Change/Global Warming has always been a hoax so that governments could have another tax stream. That is all it has ever been.

Global warming has not happened. There are small fluctuations in every inter glacial period but the ones we have gone through in the 20th century and now are small in comparisons to the dramatic changes of a thousand years ago or the mini- ice age of just 400 years ago.

It is likely that we are entering another mini ice age at best and a full blown 100,000 year ice age at worst.

If you follow data you have to be an idiot to believe in global warming and dummer than a rock to believe in C02 caused warming. Percent of CO2 in our atmosphere has gone up substantially in the last 100 years while temperature has gone up and down and is heading down again now.

My hope is that the electorate has seen the truth, finally and realized that the liberal bastions of the press should be ignored.

Uhh, we knew exactly what we were voting for and against.

It’s the democrats who went to the voting booth thinking they were getting a messiah and all they got was Obama. He has had six years to try to “solve” the problem. Blame him.

Does this mean we might actually have someone to look into the Federal Government wasting Billions of dollars on such uneconomic sources of power as wind and solar ?

Someone may actually be held accountable for lending hundreds of millions of dollars to companies that have no chance of economic viability ( vide Solyndra ) but the shareholders are major donors to a certain political party ?

You mean someone may ask why actual temperatures are outside and below the two sigma confidence level of every GCM used by the IPCC ?

I'm shocked at our good fortune.

Why isn’t Obama taking credit for keeping the earth cool and keeping the oceans from rising for the past 6 years? He should be saying “See, it’s working! Look what I did.” Gee, why not?
