What's next for Charlie Crist? [Florida Dem Party In Shambles]
Herald Tribune ^ | 11/5/14 | Zac Anderson

Posted on 11/06/2014 7:36:42 PM PST by SoFloFreeper

Democrats bet big on Charlie Crist’s bid for governor, and his loss Tuesday is not only a potential career-ending outcome for one of Florida’s most prominent political figures of the last two decades, but also another gut check for a party at a low point in statewide influence...

Democrats lost six seats in the state House of Representatives, giving the GOP a super majority. The partisan makeup of the state Senate did not change, but Republicans are still just one lawmaker shy of their all-time high.

Additionally, every Cabinet position — governor, attorney general, chief financial officer and agriculture commissioner — remains in Republican hands. U.S. Senator Bill Nelson continues to be the only statewide elected Democrat.

....Florida Democrats invested nearly all of their resources in Crist this election cycle. There was little time, money or energy that went into down-ballot races that can be important to grooming future statewide contenders....

The vaunted Crist field operation — described as a scaled-down version of what President Barack Obama employed in Florida in 2008 and 2012 — focused on Democrat-heavy South Florida, but turnout did not increase enough in Broward and Palm Beach counties from the lackluster 2010 levels to give Crist the boost he needed.

The leadership of the Democratic Party has poisoned the whole party to such a degree that just being a member of the party is political suicide.

The Obama baggage didn’t help.

Moochelle and Hillary and Bill all trooped down to the Sunshine State to boost Crist.

They probably gave him the kiss of death.

Plus Democrats in Broward and Miami Dade counties weren’t terribly excited to turn out.

And Crist will be remembered forever as the guy with the fan and a bad tan.

If they’re at a low ebb in influence, how the heck did Patrick Murphy win his district by 20 points when last time he barely clocked Allen West and had to win with fraud?

Ah fraud.. voter fraud... vote quick and vote often seems the way in some districts..
At least the dead all voted for democrats.. probably multiple times..

probably by the people receiving their social security checks..

With any luck we will get Pam Bondi. Shes one of the truly greats, IMHO. What she did to get rid of the oxy problem in Fla.alone is a shining example of how dogged an advocate she is.

Few know she also tried her best to free Tamoressi from the Mexicon hell hole as well. This lady is a fighter and would make a great governor as well.

the margin of victory for Scott was razor thin. Amazing how stupid people truly are.

Crist gained a lot of vote traction because his ambulance-chasing boss (John Morgan, For The People) spent zillions sponsoring marijuana legalization.

The next governor will be Atwater.

First I've heard his name bandied about for governor, but I agree with your assessment. He's a good, principled man with a sterling record on issues. I would happily vote for him for governor.

The way they cheated in 2000, attempting to steal a national election, I would submit that karma has at least another century of disappointment in store for them. Perhaps one this generation of democrat scum has passed on and the next generation learns to “play nice” things will start to shape up?

I hope not.

Fraud? Or the incorrect claim of 140% turnout.

Who knows - Florida may slow down the leftward momentum. If it could produce an Anita Bryant, anything is possible...
