Don't blame Elizabeth Warren for the Democrats' midterm defeat. Follow her back to victory.
That's the message progressives have for their fellow Democrats after Tuesday's widespread losses. Warren's supporters say the party fell short because it failed to emphasize the Massachusetts senator's message of economic populismand that pushing that message is the road back to congressional control.
"Elizabeth Warren was the most popular Democrat on the campaign trail this cyclein red states, purple states, and blue states," said Adam Green, cofounder of the Progressive Change Campaign Committee. "And that's because her economic populist message ... resonates everywhere."
It's just an initial shot, but it's a sign of things to come. As the party autopsies its 2014 loss, factions promise to further fracture as they debate what went wrong, who's to blame, and where to go next. And for progressives, that means a concerted effort to pull the party to the left.
But for the movement to gain traction, it needs a high-profile candidate for the 2016 presidential contest, someone who would run to the left of Hillary Clinton. Warren is the obvious choice, but she has repeatedly said she won't run.
With Democrats on the outs in Congress, however, those calls promise to get louder.
Warren's allies point to Tuesday night's results as proof that their preferred candidate has national appeal.
Warren hit the trail for Democratic candidates across the map this year, in deep-blue states like Oregon and red ones like West Virginia and Kentucky. She spoke about economic populism issues such as the minimum wage, fixing student-debt problems, and expanding Social Security, a message that worked in states across the ideological spectrum.

Double Down with Elizabeth Warren, Insanity will Rule ,LOL
Her agenda is what led to this situation. Obama and her have the same anti-capitalist world view. Voters just rejected it. I welcome a Warren candidacy. She has all the nutty ideas as Obama, but none of the campaigning skills. Her national race would be akin to Wendy Davis.
I agree with the narrow premise of the article I just don’t believe she can deliver it, I do think the Ds uncorked the genies of extremism and I don’t think they will put them away.
economic populism =Socialism, share the wealth till there is no more wealth.
They would see vindication in tree bark. None of us built that, by the way.
How?
Nice enough family. Gramps needs to do SOMETHING with those brows....and Granny needs to do something quick about her abdominal politics.....if they do that then they would be a great family.....not holding my breath on either happening.
Conservatives need to endlessly tie her to Occupy Wall Street, recapping the horrific images of its appalling behavior:

VIDEO: Everyday Rebellion presents: Occupy Wall Street/Shut down Citibank, #S17
Minneapolis/St Paul Business Journal: Occupy Wall Street protesters close Wells Fargo HQ in S.F.
New York Times: For Some, Wall Street Is Main Street
We couldn’t be so lucky as to have the Dims nominate her, could we?
Those in the picture were the well behaved Occupy Wall Street crowd. Where’s a pic of the dude who took a blank on the police car?
She’s an idiot and a phony.
Well after 2012 I felt Axlegrease, Plouffy, and Podesta could get Charles Manson elected. So she’s far from an impossibility.
It was the first picture in the post. How did you miss it?
Is she bringing a war party to the republicans?...
Nah. 2012 happened because of massive black turnout that would never materialize for a Harvard white chick.
