It would be very hard to overstate the importance of this broad, deep win.

For decades to come Republicans will have a deep bench to draw quality candidates from. Think of this as a political farm system, not to mention the many executives in the now in governors offices from which to draw presidential candidates.

On the other hand, Democrats will be forced to rely on the few billionaires and the declining number of people who can claim a famous political name. Democrats lost a lot of political capital in these last few elections... and I'm all tore up about it.

Absolutely. The Democrat’s had a pretty thin bench this cycle, just look at Montana.

Electing a sitting congressman to run for senate ended in disaster in Iowa where Braley not only lost the race, but his seat went to Republican Rod Blum.

This is going to hobble Democrats for a long time. Not to mention the re-districting advantage that was at stake this cycle. The governors elected on Tuesday will be the ones in power at the time of the 2020 census.

Speaking of famous names, I heard somebody say it’s got to be Hillary for Dem. pres. in 2016, because the Dems. just don’t have anybody else.
