No. One is a particularly vile type of rapist (and a sinner going to hell). The other is just a sinner going to hell. Sinner get witnessed to. Criminals get jailed first, witnessed to after.

This contradicts Scripture.

Homosexual relations are a sin referred to throughout the Bible as an abomination.

As a Christian, one must put God's Law Word, the Bible, above the civil laws. The Bible gives the Christian a higher standard.

America decriminalized sodomy over about the past 50 years and did not yet decriminalize the rape of children, yet the Bible has always held that rape and sodomy were both sins - and the Bible simply does not say that a pedophile is a "particularly vile type of rapist" anywhere in the text.

The Word of God is a two-edged sword - it divides those who love Christ from those who hate him. Preach God's Word to sinners, yes. Contend with them, for the sake of Christ's Kingdom. As many as will REPENT - admit they are sinning, admit what they are doing is a sin, and PUT OFF THE OLD MAN, be BORN AGAIN (1 Peter 1:23) - will hear the Word and follow Christ. Those who do not repent are damned. That is why the Gospel message is never preached in vain.

Luke 12:51 "51 Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:"

Scripture can no more be used to rationalize being friendly with sodomites than it can be used to rationalize being friendly with pedophiles, thieves, murderers, adulterers or fornicators (yes, any sexual relations outside of marriage).

1 Corinthians 6:9 "Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,"

1 Corinthians 5

"9 I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators:
10 Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world.
11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolator, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.
