The buzz: Is Charlie Crist finished in politics?
Sun Sentinel ^ | 11/5/2014 | By Gary Stein

It is time for Charlie Crist to realize the simple truth:

He doesn’t inspire people to come out and vote.

Yes, he was once a popular governor of Florida. But times change, Crist changes, and the electorate changes.

And it is time for him to realize his political career, at least as an elected official, really doesn’t have much future.

He lost four years ago when he left the Republican Party and became an independent to run for U.S. Senate. Marco Rubio left him in his dust.

Tuesday night, against a vulnerable Gov. Rick Scott who not long ago was named the most unpopular governor in America, Crist had a chance to win back the state. He couldn’t do it.

Yes, you can blame South Florida Democrats, particularly those in Broward, for not getting out to vote. In an election this close, every vote was important.

You can blame Mitch Ceaser, head of the Broward Democratic Party, for not getting out more of the vote.

You can blame Debbie Wasserman Schultz, chairman of the Democratic National Committee, for not getting out more Democrats, particularly nationally.

But the fact is, Crist has lost the ability to inspire.

There’s always more ambulances for him to chase.

The last caller to Hugh Hewitt’s election program last night predicted Crist will be back to lose for a fourth time as a Libertarian. :)

Crist bet on the wrong horse when he tied himself to Obama, and since then he hasn't won.

It was a warm embrace of Obama by Crist in 2009 when he was still the Republican governor, and Obama was touring Florida to promote the stimulus package that was Crist's downfall. After that he lost the Primary for the open Florida Senate seat that Rubio won. And now he's lost his chance to be Governor of FL, again because of Obama.

I love the irony of it all!

There are people who will say anything if that’s what it takes to win. If they are in red states, they will sound like amazing conservatives...but it’s just an act to get in DC.

Wouldn't be surprised if he turned up as a woman either.

Lest we forget Pat Buchanan had as a VP running mate a Green Party weirdo female. Name escapes me.

Crist is the most loathsome political figure in many years— on a par with the worst of Tammany.

Charlie has a future chasing ambulances and consolidating idiotic personal injury cases with “Morgan & Morgan”-—”for the People”.

If there EVER was a place for such a charlatan, it is sitting beside John (hiccup) Morgan at Rachel’s strip joints in Central FL, Morgan with his current female pelvic affiliate, and Crist with her “very safe” male escort to polesmoke him. Perfect bedfellows from Mr. Marijuana for MLS. An absolute pair of fake con-artist grifters ripping off the nobody voters and low-info gimme-dats.

Many former politicians enter academic life after their political careers end. I have it on good authority that Charlie will soon occupy the George Hamilton endowed chair at the South Florida school of Tanning Arts and Hair Extensions.

Crist inspired me the same way. He is truly slimy and has no idea what he believes. There were some rough moments last night - I thought we might be stuck with him.

I don’t like Rick Scott one bit either but. .

It seemed to be the rabid environmentalists/greenies, who had cultivated Crist under Jeb lightweight Bush, and teed him up for acquisition of private FL lands for parks and such. As a foil to big agribusiness— cattle, citrus, sugarcane (the Fanjuls of Bahamas/Miami-Dade). Tied in with the ultra-lib arts/jewish liberal (non-orthodox) Broward types. And, uh, the mob in Miami and Tampa.

Is he finished? Not as long as there are other political parties than democrat and republican. He’s only just started.
