The buzz: Is Charlie Crist finished in politics?
Sun Sentinel ^ | 11/5/2014 | By Gary Stein

It is time for Charlie Crist to realize the simple truth:

He doesn’t inspire people to come out and vote.

Yes, he was once a popular governor of Florida. But times change, Crist changes, and the electorate changes.

And it is time for him to realize his political career, at least as an elected official, really doesn’t have much future.

He lost four years ago when he left the Republican Party and became an independent to run for U.S. Senate. Marco Rubio left him in his dust.

Tuesday night, against a vulnerable Gov. Rick Scott who not long ago was named the most unpopular governor in America, Crist had a chance to win back the state. He couldn’t do it.

Yes, you can blame South Florida Democrats, particularly those in Broward, for not getting out to vote. In an election this close, every vote was important.

You can blame Mitch Ceaser, head of the Broward Democratic Party, for not getting out more of the vote.

You can blame Debbie Wasserman Schultz, chairman of the Democratic National Committee, for not getting out more Democrats, particularly nationally.

But the fact is, Crist has lost the ability to inspire.

Charlie don’t listen the naysayers.

Do what you do best. Running and losing, now as a rat.

Orange people can only be elected as Republicans. See Boehner.

I'd beg to disagree. I have a friend in Florida who didn't care much for his lukewarm opponent Scott. However, Charlie inspired him to come out and vote for Scott anyway.

One would assume. He’s lost a statewide race as a Republican, and Independent and now as a Democrat...all since August 2010. That’s tough to get past.

I don’t see why this guy thought switching parties would do him any good. What Democrat is going to vote for someone who was once a Republican?

The fact that Crist lost to a mediocre opponent says something, but Obama probably had more to do with it than anything else.

In a year or two, he’ll find himself a real estate show on HGTV - showing gay couples upscale condos in Miami and discussing color schemes and drape fabric.

As much as I don’t care for Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Crist cannot blame her for this loss. The woman works for her paycheck, running her mouth day and night, repeating the Party Line. The problem may have more to do with people not trusting a career politician who would choose to change parties for the sole reason being to get big money on his side as a campaign support.

I do think that someone else may also be finished as an elected public servant, that being Scott Brown. We on the Tea side had very high hopes for Scott Brown, but he turned out to be just a younger, taller version of John McCain. Brown was so busy asking Obama to play Basketball with him and reaching across that one-way aisle, many of us lost faith in him for good. One McCain is more than enough to stomach, IMO.

Charlie “Crisp” should just fade away and spend his remaining time finding the perfect tan.
