If we win big today, Ill cheer for a senate that allows its few patriots to speak and perhaps shame a decrepit institution to think of the nation they are supposed to serve.
Yet in the end, men are but men. They like power and inevitably seek more of it. A plurality of American voters would slap themselves in chains if it relieved them of lifes tough decisions.
Todays midterms will not change our national course. Enjoy the party tonight. The hangover begins tomorrow.
Thoughtful post. I’ll be one of those who watch from the sidelines this time. Voting for mediocre at best candidates begets mediocre at best results. And here in VA we have mediocrity in abundance on the ballot. (In VA state elections are held in odd numbered years, this is a Federal election only)
At least the folks in Wisconsin will have a good reason to show up and I wish them the best.
Good reflection.
At least today there is the ballot box we use.
Even a small change can make a difference. I remember the 1970s and Jimmy Carter. I was young and it seemed like there was no hope in the world. There were hostages..our people...in Iran. The Republican party seemed doomed and there really was not very much hope in the world. Then came Ronald Reagan....I know from history that God does not abandon his contrite people for long. So I look to the the Lord for change and vote for the party who is the lesser of two evils. I voted because I believe that things can still change for the better.
“Yet in the end, men are but men. They like power and inevitably seek more of it. A plurality of American voters would slap themselves in chains if it relieved them of lifes tough decisions.”
Then there are real men. Men who will fight to protect and preserve their country and its traditions and principles. And I mean fight.
Buzzkill much?
What a sad but accurate summation. Kudos for eloquently expressing how I felt at early voting last week.
