FBI demands new powers to hack into computers and carry out surveillance
The Guardian ^ | 10/29/14 | Ed Pinkton

The FBI is attempting to persuade an obscure regulatory body in Washington to change its rules of engagement in order to seize significant new powers to hack into and carry out surveillance of computers throughout the US and around the world.

Civil liberties groups warn that the proposed rule change amounts to a power grab by the agency that would ride roughshod over strict limits to searches and seizures laid out under the fourth amendment of the US constitution, as well as violate first amendment privacy rights. They have protested that the FBI is seeking to transform its cyber capabilities with minimal public debate and with no congressional oversight.

What the FBI needs to do to if it wants to hack into computers is the following. The FBI needs to work with Congress to propose a computer hacking amendment to the Constitution to the states. And if the states choose to ratify the FBI’s amendment then Congress will have the power to authorize the FBI to hack into computers and the FBI will be a hero.

once again, we have to rely on the British press to give us news.

All our media has been bought by the state.

Line up sheep!

A short step to want to search my brain.

Torture?
Cut my skull open?
Monitor brain waves and ‘interpret’?
Probe ... knitting needle up my nose?

They will not like what they find.

Are there any amendments to the Constitution left? The democrats have canceled out most of them.

"Islam is not a threat to the United States.  It is a religion of peace."

"Now, give me all your data or else!!!!!  There are terrorists out there!"

The FBI has become a joke.  It's a sick joke though, because it holds power and is displaying a willingness to abuse it.

I remember when the PATRIOT act was passed, there were no shortage of people saying “if you’re not doing anything wrong what do you have to worry about” to people like me who opposed it.

How about we pass an edict that says citizen review boards can search the homes of FBI agents any time they want, with no warrant.

If you’ve got nothing to hide, G-men, it shouldn’t be a problem, right?

Yes, right here on FR. They were absolutely afire with self-righteous patriotism and anyone who thought differently was a traitor. My God we’re so easily programmed.

A cut up bandaid so the pad is over the lens. Then covered in black plumbing tape so that it blends in and isn’t distracting.

Which is why I'm glad I still have my old desktop computer. It does not have a camera.

Now that hackers are going to be spending their time going after Windows 8 and 10, I feel good about still having XP.
