Grand jury meeting in civil-rights case involving George Zimmerman

A federal grand jury will meet in downtown Orlando Wednesday to hear testimony about whether Trayvon Martin's civil rights were violated when Neighborhood Watch volunteer George Zimmerman shot him in the chest, according to court paperwork..

A U.S. Department of Justice attorney from Washington, D.C., Mark Blumberg, has issued at least one subpoena for Wednesday in the case.

Blumberg would not comment on the grand jury session, but the federal panel is to meet at 9 a.m. at the federal courts building on Central Avenue in downtown Orlando to hear evidence in the case.

It's not clear how many witnesses have been ordered to appear, but at least one, Frank Taaffe, Zimmerman's former neighbor and longtime defender, has been.

Following Zimmerman's acquittal on a murder charge, Taaffe has reversed his position and now says that he believes Zimmerman was motivated by race the night he followed then shot Trayvon in 2012.

Where should he have shot his attacker, practiced in the art of lethal personal physical assault, in order to avoid having his face beaten into a bloody pulp and his brain into a bowl of mush? This would have taken Trayvon, six feet plus in height, weighing 170 lbs, about two more minutes to accomplish.

How did GZ interfere with Martin’s transit, when Martin had already gone past? Martin came back to confront GZ. GZ was trying to figure out where Martin went, not stop Martin.

As the prosecution seems likely to tell it, Zimmerman pursued Martin, armed and intent on a confrontation with him. Martin, in turn, wanted to know what this unwarranted pursuit was about and to dissuade any repetition.

Having a gun, Zimmerman knew that if he provoked such a hostile reaction from Martin, he could bring any incident to a fatal conclusion for Martin.

Except Zimmerman did not know if Martin had a gun, or an accomplice. He would have had no assurance of the outcome, or even whether he (Zimmerman) would survive the confrontation.

On the other hand, we have the delicious irony that Martin thought he was pursuing a "queer-ass cracker" and was about to deliver a "thumping" to a white gay man on the encouragement of his girlfriend.

So the Feds are going to prosecute the victim of civil rights abuse using the same law that gay-bashing Martin violated prior to his death.

So typical of Bizarro World justice when the Left is in power.

The prosecutor's argument will be that the possibility that Martin was Black led Zimmerman to pursue him, and that Martin, fearing Zimmerman's intentions, attacked first. Additionally, the prosecution will leave out certain mitigating facts, including Zimmerman's 9-11 call where he can't readily identify Trademark's race, that Trademark doubled back, etc.

There was an interview a couple months back with that friend of Martin's who's performance on the stand completely backfired. It's clear that she's spent time with a language coach.

All they need to do is look at the transcript of the criminal trial.

Rachel Jeantel, the big, fat, dim-witted black woman that Saint Skittles was talking to when the incident occurred, testified under oath that Saint Skittles attacked George Zimmerman, but that Saint Skittles merely intended to give "the creepy @$$-crackah" a little "@$$-whooping," and Zimmerman "overreacted."

Case dismissed.
