Grand jury meeting in civil-rights case involving George Zimmerman
Orlando Sentinel ^ | October 30, 2014 | Rene Stutzman

A federal grand jury will meet in downtown Orlando Wednesday to hear testimony about whether Trayvon Martin's civil rights were violated when Neighborhood Watch volunteer George Zimmerman shot him in the chest, according to court paperwork..

A U.S. Department of Justice attorney from Washington, D.C., Mark Blumberg, has issued at least one subpoena for Wednesday in the case.

Blumberg would not comment on the grand jury session, but the federal panel is to meet at 9 a.m. at the federal courts building on Central Avenue in downtown Orlando to hear evidence in the case.

It's not clear how many witnesses have been ordered to appear, but at least one, Frank Taaffe, Zimmerman's former neighbor and longtime defender, has been.

Following Zimmerman's acquittal on a murder charge, Taaffe has reversed his position and now says that he believes Zimmerman was motivated by race the night he followed then shot Trayvon in 2012.

They won’t admit that their pathologies are self-inflicted, and continue to blame their failings on Whitey.

“Taaffe has reversed his position and now says that he believes Zimmerman was motivated by race the night he followed then shot Trayvon in 2012.”

What was he threatened with and/or promised?

This is starting to remind me of an episode of Quincy with Eugene Roche (great character actor, btw) called “Guilty until Proven Innocent.” Yeesh.

The world is a better place without St. Skittles of Purple Drank and St. Swisher Sweets of Blunt.

The gene pool has been improved in some small measure without their contributions.

Martin’s right to attack people and beat their head with concrete was interfered with.

They aren’t going to charge him. More likely they’re going with a very vocal “No True Bill” the day before the election.

“Federal Civil rights laws do not apply to Zimmerman.”

Zimmerman should file civil rights charges against Holder.

Oh yes it does. The Civil Rights Act of 1968 at 18 U.S.C. § 245(b)(2) provides for federal prosecution of anyone who “willingly injures, intimidates or interferes with another person, or attempts to do so, by force because of the other person’s race, color, religion or national origin” in regard to six types of federally protected activities, which include attending school, patronizing a public place or facility, applying for employment, acting as a juror in a state court or voting. Arguably, Martin’s transit of the common area of the neighborhood was patronizing a public place and Zimmerman interfered with it because of Martin’s race.

I don’t see any ruling on Z or the Ferguson cop until after next Tue.

In Zimmerman’s case the feds lose no matter the finding.

Sounds like Ferguson not going their way and an announcement will reign down the public wrath on the dems.

Exactly.

What new evidence was provided? Or was it pressure from the higher ups?

Something doesn’t smell right.
