Thomas Michael Menino, who insisted a mayor doesnt need a grand vision to lead, then went on to shepherd Bostons economy and shape the skyline and the very identity of the city he loved through an unprecedented five consecutive terms in City Hall, died Thursday. He was 71 and was diagnosed with advanced cancer not long after leaving office at the beginning of this year.

L.A. is NOTHING like it was in 1976. It was by and large conservative. Then again, I remember when New Hampshire was too.

Thomas Menino, five-time mayor of Boston, long time gun control advocate and co-founder of Mayors Against Illegal Guns died..Don't forget political patron of the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center, otherwise known as Menino's Mosque
To: stephenjohnbanker
I’m pretty sure he cut a sweetheart deal to sell Muslims public property for next to nothing so that they could build a mosque in Boston. (So much for the separation of church and State.) I also believe that the Boston Bombers were members of that mosque.
I also believe he ran a “sanctuary” city.
America is better with his absence.

I seem to remember a bible verse along the lines of “Judge not, that ye be not judged”.

As he did with Chick Fil A. I never thought he was ever really comfortable with the politically correct (Chick Fil A, his participation in the Gay Pride parades, etc.), he just had us marching orders from the party -- his not to reason why, etc. Though I think he was quite comfortable with keeping Walmart out of Boston -- that's old line Dem: Walmart's not union!

Not a good day for Howie doing a “best of” in Mumbles memory, eh?
Probably right. Anyway, condolences to family.

And now ex-Mayor “Mumbles” Menino is room temperature. Boston's gun grabber-in-chief is now populating Dante's 8th Circle of Hell (Fraud). A well deserved end for such a political hack.
