And George Prescott Bush will be our next Texas Land Commissioner due to Republicans and others voting a straight republican ticket whether we like it or not.
I don’t dislike him per se, I’m just tired of the political dynasties and the implied political entitlement based on family name recognition.
Given that his biography reflects some qualifications and experience in the oil and gas business as well as the ethnic background shared by many Texans, he may become a future political leader in Texas politics. If he puts the Spirit of Texas and its values above family name he will be.
Battleground Texas eat your hearts out. You are not going to Californize our state, if ever. Texas is going to be red for a long time. In the meantime, GO ABBOTT! GO CRUZ! GO TEXAS!

Every election since Reagan left office, the GOP Ruling Class has been able to select the nominee. That’s the problem.
Why are we even discussing the 2s and 3s on National issues when we have a 10? Cruz, no one else even close.

They were discussing Hillary v.s. Jeb on FNC this morning and someone (sorry, had it on in the background and didn’t catch who was speaking) said that given that Bill has become a “Bush brother from another mother” (my words, not their specific words), they didn’t think Jeb would criticize/come down hard on Hillary! but that Hillary would on Jeb.
He’s right, of course.
Yeah, you want to see some really shocked looks on the Bush faces? Just wait for Hillary to cast her spells on Jeb.
They ought to take Mama Bush's advice about not wanting any more Bush's.

Strange coincidence, I traded my cow pony for a Mustang GT convertible a while back. Skip the front shoes. Texas is still full of Texans regardless of origin or what they call themselves. But I must admit I do feel more comfortable when driving through certain neighborhoods :)

Contrary to what many think, I do not think any one ethnic group will overwhelm the culture of Texas. It will not become another Mexico, Germany, UK. or whatever in the future. But it may well be the new Republic of Texas if our federal government continues to fail it’s constitutional duties and responsibilities to us.
We aren’t all Anglo-Mexican, I like to think we are all Texans of some ethnic background sharing a common love and Spirit of Texas above our diversity. In fact, it is the blend of cultures and traditions that makes Texas what it is. But by and large most Texans are friendly and laid back. We just try to enjoy each other by respecting everyone’s constitutional rights, privacy, and the limited role we think government should play in our lives.
I think most Texans are family oriented and moderate to conservative politically at the present. Our state has prospered economically. We are predominately Judeo-Christian and still pray to G_D. This has attracted many like minded people from other states as well as foreign nations. If you’re coming to radically change Texas and its culture, then stay away, you will not be happy living here. Our state is growing and slowly changing, but hopefully in a good direction.
Not all immigrants here are illegals, but we do have more than our share of illegals and not all are from Mexico. We hope some will eventually become legal Texans of good standing. Regardless, their children will be exposed to and absorbed by the Texas culture when raised here. And if you are born in Texas, you are still a native Texan regardless of where your parents, grandparents, etc. came from. Some say it is a gift from G_D.
Texans have also inter-married for generations and share a long history and relationship with Mexico. You may find some animosity toward Mexicans and other ethnic groups, but it is usually influenced by the character of the individual not the ethnic group as a whole. All groups have contributed their share of killers, criminals, malcontents, and general all around a$$hole types. As a result, Texas has it’s share and we deal with the circumstances accordingly. As many know, you kill someone in Texas, we kill you back. That includes citizens of Mexico and other countries.
The Spirit of Texas just happens if you mind your own business and everyone stays friendly. Otherwise, we are armed and will lawfully defend our lives and property if provoked by word or deed.
Even the devil, given his choice, chose hell over Texas. He knows you don’t mess with Texas.

I think Jeb isn’t going to seriously run and Ted is waiting to decide his own time and place to announce if he chooses to run.
Since Obama’s credibility is shot to hell (all-time low) and he cannot be re-elected, there is going to be a herd of candidates emerge. He will let them criticize each other and let the media spend their time culling the herd among the potential republican voters (which may include a few ex-democrats and Obama supporters who are anti-Hillary).
It’s too early to announce and give the media or the GOPe too much time to downplay his candidacy. Now is the time to keep them off balance and busy with the other candidates.
He definitely isn’t going to criticize anyone within the GOP until after the herd is culled. The democrats would love to see the republicans self-destruct by criticizing their own. Instead he will probably continue to direct all criticism to the left thereby helping the GOP in the interim.
The democratic candidate may not be Hillary. Anyway, it’s too early to criticize Hillary since she has not been declared the democratic candidate. If she decides to run, the media is going to be very busy deflecting criticism of her and trying to find anything worthwhile to present to the voters. She may be the gift the GOP needs to nail this election.
The results from the November elections will change the playing field if the democrats lose the Senate majority. I think the democrats have their backs to the wall and will do anything to maintain their power and control. There could be mayhem if massive voter fraud is confirmed.
So, like Ted, we will have to wait to see when and where the opportunity arises. The question is not if he runs, but when. Palin, are you listening?
