Health problems, low education levels and criminal histories make seven out of 10 young people ages 17 to 24 unfit to become soldiers, according to the U.S. Army.

It’s a problem.
My buddy drives a trash truck, it’s not a great job but it pays quite well. They can’t find young guys who can pass the drug test to get a commercial license.
Or, a foreign nation will look at them and say - why they hell would we want to conquer these people?
I wonder what a low education level would be for the age group 17 to 24. Does that mean no high school degree?
The problem will eventually fix itself.
We did during the war. Now standards have been tightened.
Once upon a time a young man with a checkered past might have been given the option join the Army or go to jail. Now the Army won’t take people with a criminal record. I had a Master Sergeant, 25 years in, back in the mid ‘80s. He told me going in the Army and getting his tail whooped was the best thing that could have happened to him. He realized he wasn’t the biggest, badest dude on the block.
Once upon a time there was no such thing as ADD or ADHD. Oh sure, kids might have been deemed hyper, but that was the end of it. Now we have a DSM code for everything and if you have been on ADD meds you won’t get in.
The Army’s standards have always been lacking.
But we let them vote.
And you can bet your sweet ass the "social workers" and similar malefactors know this ...
How many people does the army need?
30% should be good enough
It used to be their manuals were written at a 8th grade level.
Now it will be 3rd grade.
In the 60s one of the instruction manuals for the new M16 was a comic book. Looked like a superman comic.
This is like Obamalamadingdong’s “MISSION ACCOMPLISHED” moment then?
If they are too slovenly to serve they are safe from being sent into the Ebola zone.
“MISSION FRICKIN’ ACCOMPLISHED!!!”
Obama wants illegals serving... he’s such a jerk.
7 in 10 Young Americans Too Fat, Uneducated, or Criminal to Join Army

And on the flip side, when you have 3 in 10 Young Americans too Smart, Educated and too Bright to Join the Army - then you have a bigger problem.
I’m surprised. Being both uneducated and criminal didn’t stop the community-organizer-in-chief from leading our Army.
These days even having a high school degree can easily mean having a low education level.
But nobody wants to blame the government-run “education” system or government run “nutrition” or government-run “mental health” systems.
That’s OK, not 1 in 10 are going to serve anyway.
I have a manual signed and illustrated by Will Eisner.
