NY State blesses ‘incest’ marriage between uncle, niece
NY Post ^ | October 29, 2014 | Julia Marsh

The state’s highest court has toppled a cultural taboo — legalizing a degree of incest, at least between an uncle and niece — in a unanimous ruling. While the laws against “parent-child and brother-sister marriages . . . are grounded in the almost universal horror with which such marriages are viewed . . . there is no comparably strong objection to uncle-niece marriages,” Tuesday’s ruling reads.

“State laws against bigamy, same-sex marriage, adult incest, prostitution, masturbation, adultery, fornication, bestiality, and obscenity are likewise sustainable only in light of Bowers’ validation of laws based on moral choices. Every single one of these laws is called into question by today’s decision; (...) The impossibility of distinguishing homosexuality from other traditional ‘morals’ offenses is precisely why Bowers rejected the rational-basis challenge. ‘The law,’ it said, ‘is constantly based on notions of morality, and if all laws representing essentially moral choices are to be invalidated under the Due Process Clause, the courts will be very busy indeed.’ “

~Justice Scalia, Dissenting in Lawrence v. Texas, 2003

Prophetic.

If the concern is to avoid producing too many really stupid people, it’s too late.

When the Emperor Claudius married his niece, the Romans appear to have viewed it as incest (but he could do what he wanted since he was emperor).

The British royal family had some first cousin marriages--Mary Tudor and Philip II, Mary Stuart and William of Orange (later King William III). Neither royal couple had children.

The Habsburgs were prone to this--Charles II of Spain was a mess because of the extreme inbreeding among his ancestors.

The ancient Spartans seem to have practiced uncle/niece marriage. At least Leonidas (of Thermopylae fame) married his own niece, Gorgo.

While the laws against parent-child and brother-sister marriages . . . are grounded in the almost universal horror with which such marriages are viewed ...
Then clearly such grounding is an unconstitutional violation of equal rights.

Using judicial logic there. I mean, almost universal horror results in an extreme amount of bias against, therefore an extreme degree of unequal treatment, and surely must be remedied by the courts.

The almost universal horror against homosexuality was no barrier to judges, sine what, Bowers v. Hardwick or thereabouts.

If you look up "immoral institution" in a dictionary, you'll find a synonym to be "courts of law."

Only a matter of time. Make sure there’s no fertility possible as that’s now the only reason they could deny it.

Don’t let anyone tell you who you can love! #MarriageEquality

Dan was a single guy in his fifties who was living at home with his widowed father and working in the family business.

When he found out he was going to inherit a fortune when his sickly father died, he decided he needed to find a wife with whom to share his fortune.

One evening, at an investment meeting, he spotted the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Her natural beauty took his breath away. “I may look like
just an ordinary guy,” he said to her, “But in just a few years my father will pass away and I will inherit over $200 million”

Impressed, the woman asked for his business card and three weeks later, she became his stepmother.

Women are so much better at financial planning than men.

What is it that keeps some people from learning that all those jokes about inbreeding have facts behind them? Even 1st cousins can’t marry in this state.

It defies logic for anyone to think this is a good thing, politics be damned-the pharaohs of Egypt married sisters, nieces, and the Greeks adopted the practice when they came over there- their mental and physical health declined-may or may not be the reason Rome rolled over them eventually, but it certainly didn’t help.

Royal families in Europe married 1st cousins on a pretty regular basis, and that hasn’t worked out so well, either-you can still see a few examples of that-this is a special kind of stupid...

Ok. So then my brother would marry my dad and I would marry my mom. #loveislove

It’s pretty disgusting what people have done with Holy matrimony.

“She married her mother’s half-brother. The judge ruled that this was the genetic equivalent to ‘cousin’ which that state allowed marriages between.

The article is misleading. The court did not invalidate the prohibition of full uncle-niece marriages.”

This is a natural development and inevitable from recognition of Sodomy as Progress and homosexual hookups as "marriage." Institutionalization of "Same Sex Marriage" is, in reality, the destruction of all taboos in regards to sex and procreation, and life and death.

Why Judaism (and then Christianity) Rejected Homosexuality

Give them time as this case will be used as a foundation upon which the case for legally sanctioned incest will be built.

Yep, from Wiki:

“The practice of first-cousin and uncle-niece marriages was common among 17th-century European nobility,”

If you allow gay marriage, then there’s no longer any justification for not allowing incest or polygamy. Leftists downplay this, but they have no real answer for it. They always try to misdirect or change the subject.

Could I divorce my husband and marry my dad (on paper only!) after my dad divorces my mom, and then not have to pay death taxes on mom and dad’s estate when they are both gone?

If you marry your mom it might be easier to get judicial OK. If your husband marries your mom, (or you marry husband's dad) it would be perfectly legal, since there is no genetic link at all (at least I assume so).

The feds might want evidence that the marriage was not a sham marriage, so you should have video proof that the marriage was consummated.

The whole family dynamic is tainted because of this.

There is the genetic issue, even if it is reduced. It’s still an issue.

Exactly right. Well said.
