However, you do allude to one of the reasons the state has a compelling interest to regulate marriage which is health of posterity. I recall many years ago that before a marriage license was issued a blood test was required for "the RH factor". Regardless of the Judges ruling it does confirm the state has a compelling interest in marriage to prevent diseases like hemophilia in offspring.
Once the pandora box of gay marriage goblins was opened then anything can go as “legal marriage” including incest. Just wait until 3 same sex individuals wish to all be married together. Oh that’s coming too just wait and see.

What the court ruled is that a half-uncle and niece relationship is equivalent to a cousin and cousin relationship in terms of incest. From a genetic impact standpoint, that is true.
Indeed. However it raises other legal questions such as this pressing issue in West Viriginia: if a couple divorces, are they still cousins?
