“The teacher could greatly slant the whole thing one way or another.”
I’m guessing the teacher printed the questions off the net, handed it to the kids to “study”, and went back to on-line shopping.

Muslims believe Mohammad was a prophet. They also believe Jesus was a prophet. Does the school teach about Jesus’ life?

Yes. Vote to fire public employees who abuse the public trust.

He needs to approach the school principle with a law suit.

At the risk of being slammed, I’d say it’s important for children to learn a few basic facts about Islam within the context of history, and that this can theoretically be done without proselytizing for Islam or whitewashing Islam.

Maryland. Liberal to the core.
Its no wonder that people desperately want to leave the state.

I retired from teaching in June.
My primary subject was Life Science, but I was required to teach a world civilization class also.
The text (Glencoe)was actually pretty good. They set aside several chapters on Judaisms, Christianity, and Islam. Even did a focus on the Reformation.

Charles County is the same place where the Board of Ed. voted to not name a school after Navy Diver Robert D. Stethem, the beating victim of terrorists on that TWA flight, from 1985, I think.

I think it's important to teach those things because they are very important to history, and too many kids aren't learning it in the home these days. The problem is always balance and fairness. It's a tightrope act, but I think the effort must be made. I do not know whether the class material that was the subject of this particular article would have gotten my blessing (not enough info to go on), but I didn't like the suggestion by some that Islam should be totally ignored by the educational system.

He should inform the school that if he is not permitted on school grounds his daughter will no longer attend the school.

"No sane person still lives in the Peoples Republic" Yep!
OTOH, when you are as old as I am (80), a target-rich environment is preferable...The more that I can take with me, the happier I go to ground temperature...

From the questions it appears they get a whole lot more about Muslim history than they get of American history.
A lot of the answers are wrong, too...

The text this school is using turns out to come from one
Jarrod McEntarfer, who teaches at the High School for Law and Public Service in NYC. He has a blog
here (not updated recently). Does that name ring a bell?
The page photos in the article appear to come from his Our Textbook, World History: Patterns of Interaction. Skip down to "Chapter 10 - The Muslim World (600-1250)".
