Very interesting. I would have appreciated the expedition more if it was one done under sail.

Note that this is a commercial bulk carrier with an ice-breaking hull, carrying 23,000 tons of nickel concentrate direct to China from Northern Quebec, now year-round.

"The route to China via the Northwest Passage is some 40 percent shorter than the traditional Panama Canal route, and as a result, will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by more than 1,300 tonnes."

That is absolutely astonishing to me.

I wasn’t aware of this route.

Now I’ll have to read more about it. :-)

Look at the height and length of that bow wave!

.........height and length of that bow wave!...

Awesome! And Thanks!

In fact it has inspired me to redesign my lobster boat so I can use it all year-round. I am modifying the bow with high-tensile steel (if the Sherman Tank from the front yard of the VFW goes missing, keep your piehole shut!) to break up the ice in the harbor and am in the market for 23,000 tonnes of concentrated nickel ore to ballast her.

To hell with FL this winter (especially if Gay Charlie gets elected)! I'll be lobsterin' all year-round!
