Id be interested in seeing the original p11 photo of the GIs and the knocked out tank in the ditch. Something strikes me as suicidal about firing a bazooka at that range from an exposed position. My FB friend came through. I speculated over there as to whether the bazooka man just fired a second shot, since it looks like the tank was already in the ditch with a tread off. It might have been farther away for the first shot.

Good read, I still have a piece of V-Mail from a relative who was on a PT Boat there that foretold the coming expected battle. “We’re getting ready for something big”. It turned out to be the battle of Leyte Gulf. He also suspected that PT 109 was “partying” before being rammed by a destroyer. (It was rumored at that time.) Like I always say “Myth and Hype” wins out.

Also, the tank is a Panther but where is the muzzle brake?

The FB friend suspects it is staged for the camera. I am beginning to think he is right.

One of the servicemen whose story was told in WWII in HD was Jack Yusen who was a crewman on the Samuel B. Roberts, or the "Sammy B" as he called her. What a harrowing story he told. He was also in shark infested waters for a couple of days.
He had no regrets at all and was proud his skipper ordered the attack and proud of the incredible result achieved.
