Texas created enough jobs last month to help the state set a 12-month record.
The Texas economy added 36,400 jobs in September, according to data released Friday by the Texas Workforce Commission. Over the past 12 months, employers added 413,700 jobs the most ever recorded by the state.
The unemployment rate fell to 5.2 percent in September, down from 5.3 percent in August. A year ago, the rate was 6.3 percent.
Were having a broad -based increase in job growth in Texas, and sooner or later were going to have to see wage increases, said Trinity University economist David Macpherson.
Those strong September numbers preceded the recent decline in oil prices and the Ebola outbreak in Dallas, but economists said those occurrences arent expected to affect the Texas job market.
People with long memories back to the 1980s are getting nervous about oil prices, said Jim Glassman, senior economist at Chase Commercial Banking. The U.S. benchmark of crude oil, West Texas Intermediate, declined to $82 a barrel this week, its lowest level since 2012.
The state has been spoiled by stable oil prices and now people panic when it goes down a little, said Keith Phillips, senior economist with the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas.
People shouldnt forget that theres an upside to the lower oil prices, even in Texas, he said. Lower gasoline prices could prompt consumer spending.

No, my state is not listening.
It is too concerned with taking care of foreign nationals.
And I think all of them are in Houston. Took me 45 minutes to go 8 miles last yesterday afternoon in the City and it wasn’t even rush hour traffic, just a very, very small fender bender in the far right hand lane - although it seems like there is never a time when there is not heavy traffic.
What does California want jobs for? People with jobs can’t easily be forced to do as they are told by government.
If I had to commute here in L.A. I would buy a dirt bike. If it were less than ten miles, I’d use my bicycle.
Looks like Texas is moving ahead with high speed rail with a lot of private investors.

and, AND What’s this about a .50/gal gas tax on Jan. 1. If I was a younger man I would leave this state in a heartbeat. GRRRR
Reminds me of “Raising Arizona.” You’re young, you got your health, why do you want a job?
That’s how it’s done, America.
Watch and learn.
I had heard it was more like 75 cents.
I guess the other (now) legalized theft from us isn’t enough.
“Looks like Texas is moving ahead with high speed rail with a lot of private investors.”
Out of all the crazy High-speed schemes out there, this one actually has the potential to work, AND MAKE MONEY.
Both the population density, and the needed existing traffic are already there, unlike the Fresno-SFO fiasco.
don’t bother us, we’re too busy running out Japanese train manufacturers and such.
Kali is deafened by the Americans leaving the State and the illegal aliens moving in.
Parole Board chairman: They’ve got a name for people like you H.I. That name is called “recidivism.”
Parole Board member: Repeat offender!
Parole Board chairman: Not a pretty name, is it H.I.?
H.I.: No, sir. That’s one bonehead name, but that ain’t me any more.
Parole Board chairman: You’re not just telling us what we want to hear?
H.I.: No, sir, no way.
Parole Board member: ‘Cause we just want to hear the truth.
H.I.: Well, then I guess I am telling you what you want to hear.
Parole Board chairman: Boy, didn’t we just tell you not to do that?
H.I.: Yes, sir.
Parole Board chairman: Okay, then.
Psst... Connecticut, I think UBS (United Bank of Scotland) is looking to move to Texas. I know Mallory is losing jobs for CT citizens so CT citizens, vote Foley for Governor and put Dannell Mallory into the unemployment line.
Is California listening????
In a word... NO
As long as any new Texans leave their liberal politics back in the places they destroyed, then “Welcome!”. If they think they want to bring them here, then “Get out!”
There was some GREAT dialogue.
Well, it ain’t ozzy and harriet
