Battle begins for NRSC chair

The midterm elections aren’t over yet, but that hasn’t stopped early chatter among senators over who will lead the Senate Republican campaign arm for the 2016 cycle.

Sens. Roger Wicker of Mississippi and Dean Heller of Nevada have been working behind the scenes to let allies know they are interested in taking over as the next head of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, according to five sources familiar with the discussions.

Heller has talked about the plum post with Republican lobbyists, according to a source familiar with the conversations. Several Republican sources said that Wicker has expressed interest in taking the job as well.

The party committee raises millions of dollars to attack Democrats in 30-second ads. And it is instrumental in recruiting candidates and helping shore up the campaigns of struggling senators. In 2014, it supported Thad Cochran in Mississippi, during his primary, which he won, and incumbent Pat Roberts, who is trying to fend off Greg Orman, a businessman running as an independent in Kansas.

Other candidates may yet emerge for the job, and it’s entirely possible that Wicker and Heller ultimately may decide not to formally run for the position. Both of their offices were noncommittal, saying they were focused only on 2014. GOP senators will vote for the next head via secret ballot after the November elections.

Heller and Reid are both Mormons, but that’s where the similarity ends. Wicker is a Cochran clone.

Look at the cloture votes recently. Heller is ALWAYS an “AYE.” Like Ensign before him, Heller is on Harry’s speed dial when he needs a vote. He can’t be trusted to head the NRSC.

Either way, a RINO will use the job to fight conservatives

The NRSC is already anti-conservative enough

Wicker is proud of the actions by the NRSC, cochran campaign his staffers on loan to the cochran campaign, his son in law who was part of the cochran and of course the barbours. His and cochran’s voting record would be more conservative if they voted the will of Mississippians instead of the barbour lobbying firm. The RNSC money was spent on ads on black radio stations denigrating McDaniel, Tea Party and Conservatives. His staffer was giving the encvelopes of money to those who would distribute them to the voters. His Son in law lined up the radio ads and the cash money for the envelopes. I called his office and was told enator wicker was proud of his and the NRSC efforts in behalf of senator cochran. I’ll not ever be supporting roger wicker again for anything.

“Wicker needs to be primaried after his amnesty vote from a couple years back. Cochran clone”

haley barbour is pro amnesty and wicker and cochran’s votes belong to haley’s lobbying firm. If they voted the way the people wanted our two senators and three republican congressmen would all vote more Conservative but there loyalty lies with haley. Mississippi’s fourth congressman is bennie thompson democrat/communist.

” He can’t be trusted to head the NRSC.”

In reality, none of those who are likely candidates can be trusted either. Rancid Penis has the personality of a wall, so nearly anyone would be an improvement. It is so sad, with the country where it is today, that the GOPE has such a “poor brand” that they can’t even win this election in a robust fashion (if they can even win it at all).

I actually dont mind this.

The only way this could get better is if Cochran was head of the NRSC.

It was a bit harder to tie Jerry Moran to Cochran.
