Why?
Paging Willie Brown
Green, not Brown
Presumably because the investors think there's a market.
So that the citizens of Dallas can quickly get to Houston. Probably for a trip to the amazing upper Texas coast beaches.... Or perhaps the beautiful Houston climate.... < /s>
To make money, believing they can be competitive with Southwest Airlines.
Not sure that the can, but if done without government (tax payer) dollars, ok.
Hey, I have a bridge for sale.
Not this cr@p, again :(
After looking at the map, I'd say about 20% would be at less than maximum speed, so a 200 MPH train would probably "average" 100 - 130 over the course, making the trip a couple of hours (or so) for a premium price
NOTHING in America demands such speed for a human to be in one place so quickly that a corporate jet couldn't do
By the time this waste of money (SOMEone's paying for all this "study") .. the Pipeline will have been built, operational and contributed to $1.00 p/gal gasoline ... why bother ?
Oh, if you really must just monorail the damn thing down the center of I45.
First see if they can build a Dallas-Fort Worth train with a stop at the airport.
approximately 240-mile

The Texas bullet train will be capable of 205 mph. This means your journey between Dallas and Houston will take under 90 minutes.

Price is would be the difference. This is intended to be competitive with Commercial Airline prices with the belief of less hassles (time) than an Airport.
I have my doubts, but at least this one is private funded, they claim at least.
Progressives love it. They what Criminals to be free to move rapidly between the two largest thug cities in TX.
TRINITY RAILWAY EXPRESS (TRE)
https://www.dart.org/riding/tre.asp
Travel on the TRE between Union Station and CentrePort/DFW Airport Station or between Fort Worth T&P Station and CentrePort/DFW Airport Station
They are being sneaky about this issue. They have Propsition 1 on the table and are basically asking to use the rainy day fund claiming they have a shortage of money to maintain our roadways when in truth they want to use it on the new railway system. We know what this will actually result in - they will commence working on the railway system, end up having a shortfall with higher than antiipated costs after using all the tiny day unds then come back to the citizens and say they need to increase taxes. In the meantime the politicians pushing this will get their payoffs from the uual suspects in this fiasco and the standard contractual brother-in-law arrangements will be ade, pockets will be stuffed, and fraud will be rampant as they bill for services they didn’t do, supplies they didn’t buy, payroll for eople who didn’tvreally work, etc...
Been investigating this type of crap for 20 years. Trust me it will go down this way...
Just wonder about passenger cost in $ and time. Would you have still have to spend as much time in travel prep as it would take just to drive it? TSA,parking, getting to train station? How about getting from station to destination? would it be any different than just driving from the north end of town or just jumping on a southwest flight from HOU?
