I (finally) saw a car today with a Davis sticker and I wondered that she was the best that the rats could do. Is their bench really that light? I think it is.

And probably the best take on Texas as it is today as I've seen even if still a bit more romantic than I expect reality is. We're conservative out of self interest. Nothing wrong with that at all, but there are mostly no high ideals involved. That left with everything that went with the mentioned 10 gallon hats.

She’s apparently grabbing pictures off the internet and trying to claim them as supporters. In this case they’re Virginia College Republicans.

We were in Austin and were surprised that there are no bumper stickers for Wendy Davis visible there either, though there are still the odd Obama stickers stuck on some economy cars.

I’m afraid that’s true of the entire US.It has taken me some years of freeping to finally go past my own romanticed view of Republicans, heck just ordinary Americans, as mostly a lot of patriotic self-reliant salt-of-the-earth people, at least when the chips were down. I don’t believe it anymore. I’ve also lost my vestigial view of the South and Southerners as such, in general. We may be more so in voting patterns, relative to other areas, but that’s not saying much anymore, especially considering what Republicans (have ceased to) stand for.
