Joyce, an 82 year old lifelong black Democrat called C-Span to express her dismay with her party and announce that she voted straight Republican this year. She is dismayed with the Democrats stance on religion, abortion, and the poor effects of Obama’s policies on the black community and the country.

“I have noticed in years what the Democratic party has done to my people. Unemployment is higher in the black community….than anywhere else.

I cannot say, there’s no way I can continue to say that I was a Christian and stay in the Democrat party. They advocate the killing of babies, they advocate taking from the doers and giving to the ones sitting doing nothing…….”

She should have been a lifelong Republican.

She could first vote in 1953, a time when most blacks voted Republican because Democrats at the time were the party of Jim Crowe and separate but equal.

Actually I find it surprising that she would say that, perhaps she actually meant that she is a Long Time Democrat.

My great aunt voted republican for the first time this year.

Problem is, they won’t get any help fighting amnesty from the republicans. In fact, on practically every issue republicans could use against democrats to win black votes, the republicans are either retreating or outright surrendering to democrats.

Its why I use twitter. I can engage these people directly and try to talk some sense into them. For every 99 who write me off as a racist right winger there is about 1 who listens and I consider that a win.

Just last week a black girl in St Louis asked me to name 1 thing that republicans had done to help minorities. I sent her these links about two Detroit charter schools that are showing real results.

She apparently checked them out because she returned and thanked me about an hour later and confessed that she didn't understand the democrat opposition to charter schools.
