hether you enjoyed your weekend or sheltered in place wearing personal protective equipment, you may have missed the news that officials are preparing to clear four dozen people who had direct or indirect contact with Dallas Ebola patient Thomas Eric Duncan after hed begun shedding the virus, but before he was finally admitted to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital.
The 21 days since doctors belatedly diagnosed Duncan marks the end of Ebolas incubation period, and none of these contactsincluding family members whod been caring for him in very close quarters after hed become gravely illhas developed any symptoms of the disease.
Thats mostly just good news for the people in quarantine, and the city of Dallas. But it should also mark a turning point in the political fight surrounding Ebola, which last week saw Republicans make the strategic decision to embrace undisguised appeals to panic and paranoia.

Good point. “Troop Ships” went out of style a long time ago. Most fly commercial/charter.
I think Ansel’s point is that we don’t really use ‘troop ships’ anymore. A couple of guys ride with the gear, but most of the unit flies.
Not just troop ships, the 3,000 are from all branches of the military and a large number of various units, including aviation and the 101st Airborne, and they will be coming and going at completely different times, it was one of those hilariously stupid things that the ignorant say.
If he were a democrat, we would be having all kinds of fun with this, it is like so many of his other puzzlingly stupid remarks on things like abortion and gay marriage.
One of the places they suggested be made available for quartering US troops are Liberian military barracks. Obviously for security purposes they will crowd a lot of troops into each building. So what is the difference between a ship or a building with respect to Ebola ?
Would you first explain post 16?
As far as troops in barracks, they have been doing that for centuries.
The CDC claims every square inch of your body has to be covered if you are in a room with an Ebola patient on top of chlorine spray downs as take the stuff off. So how is Rand Paul whipping up panic?
” Whether you enjoyed your weekend or sheltered in place wearing personal protective equipment, you may have missed the news that officials are preparing to clear four dozen people who had direct or indirect contact with Dallas Ebola patient Thomas Eric Duncan after hed begun shedding the virus, but before he was finally admitted to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital. “
Nice of them to stereotype preppers as some Dale Gribble panic attack prone thumbsucking fool....
In the first sentence no less...
All the preppers I know are NOT at home in their protective gear crapping in thier portable 5 gallon bucket toilets...
They are living their lives, they are wide awake, they are observant and are all VERY Patient... they don’t panic like the city liberal morons who WILL actually be sitting themselves IF and WHEN the SHTF...

Rand Paul is a Doctor of Medicine.
The real issue is why the media have to stalk people and react to whatever it is they say.
Ebola is extremely contagious down to extremely small droplets of a wide variety of bodily fluids. Sometimes people don’t thoroughly cover every last droplet.
Rand was off his rocker...however, these troops are transporting in a C17. - ...cargo dimensions
88 by 18 by 12 feet....quarters are still too close.
I doubt that military flights in and out will be high risk for large numbers of troops during the course of the flights.
It is not "extremely contagious". In fact, it is obviously rather difficult to contract. Doing things like handling corpses will up yours odds considerably, though.
Or sick people, or cleaning up after the sick. The people who got sick apparently got it as a result of prolonged and close contact.

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
Good catch. This confirms that the story originated in the White House.
The are attacking paul because he’s on the cover of time this week
