GOP candidate discovers voting machine casts his vote for the Democrat he is running against

The Democrat mantra that voting fraud is rare takes another blow today with the stunning story of a GOP candidate unable to vote for himself in Cook County Illinois. The Illinois Political Review reports:

Admitting his confidence in Cook County ballot integrity is shaken, State Representative Candidate Jim Moynihan (R-56), was shocked today when he tried to cast a vote for himself and the voting machine cast it for his opponent instead.

“While early voting at the Schaumburg Public Library today, I tried to cast a vote for myself and instead it cast the vote for my opponent,” said Moynihan. “You could imagine my surprise as the same thing happened with a number of races when I tried to vote for a Republican and the machine registered a vote for a Democrat."

While using a touch screen voting machine in Schaumburg, Moynihan voted for several races on the ballot, only to find that whenever he voted for a Republican candidate, the machine registered the vote for a Democrat in the same race. He notified the election judge at his polling place and demonstrated that it continued to cast a vote for the opposing candidate’s party. Moynihan was eventually allowed to vote for Republican candidates, including his own race. It is unknown if the machine in question (#008958) has been removed from service or is still in operation.

And don’t give me any BS about how both parties are the same.

Sen. Fitzgerald was clean (which is why he was hounded out, opening the seat for Obama). Brady was cleaner than most. The rest, in Illinois, ARE the same as the Dems. In 1998, Jailbird George Ryan was the Combine gubernatorial candidate, and the foolish pro-lifers were persuaded to vote for him over Glenn Poshard, the unusual Democrat who was noticeably better than his Republican opponent and committed the sin of being a downstater winning the primary. Others of this type were John Silber (MA Gov, against Weld) and Jim Lawlor (5th Rep CT-against Franks and Taborszak).

I am in Georgia now, but was able to vote a straight Republican ticket without much issue. Any grievances against Deal and Perdue are petty compared to what I have sen in IL and CT. A shame I wasn't still in WI to vote for Walker, who can use it more.

One who denied it was one “Mitt” Romney.

It wasn’t “Independent” in VA, was it, but the liberal “Libertarians”.

Correct. What was critical was Libertarians pulled enough votes to turn the state blue.

It’s not about how you vote, it’s about how the votes are counted... Perfect example of Illinois’ Stalinist approach to democracy.

Wonder how far they are going to push above the law game also wonder if some fed agency is working on the case and waiting until after the election to make a move?.
Things are to far out of hand in D.C. something is going to happen.

Dems are cheating, as usual. They plan to steal the next election.

More likely the machine has been cloned and distributed throughout the county.

The Media's pick for the (R) candidate, one who could win the primary and still lose the main election.
It went as planned.

The democrats know we can't arrest a machine for vote fraud, er, I mean for making a mistake.

Proof and reason enough to out right ban ALL electronic voting machines.

IMHO, this goes to show the two parties ARE the same.

Not only did Moynihan show the fraud happening, he walks out and doesn’t IMMEDIATELY call for an audit/investigation? Let alone DEMAND the faulty machine be removed???

Just another dog-n-pony show for the masses to believe their vote matters, while the two sides yuck it up behind closed doors, stuffing their bank account with taxpayer $$.

“It is unknown if the machine in question (#008958) has been removed from service or is still in operation.”

This is why voter ID is not the solution.

True, where I voted early today in Tarrant County TX. No touch screen computers, but a different type that has been used in my polling places for at least 4 years.

There wasn’t a single “I” on the ballot, but there were about a half dozen “L” and maybe two “G” (green) candidates.

Out of about 60-70 races on the ballot, there must have been at least 25 that were uncontested Republican; mostly JPs and Civil and Criminal Court judges. ....BTW, I voted against Prop. 1 what would steal money from the rainy day funds and use it for additional highway repairs, etc.

They CHEAT. To win, a Republican has to have greater than a 5-7% advantage going it. That’s a fact.

With machines like this we could have a 30% lead and it not suffice. Machine voting needs to stop.

There was this big rush to move to electronic voting after 2006, they said that the cost to maintain the old machines was too great, for two freaking, maybe three a year? No, so our vote is ursurped into a fiat.
