I am assuming that these are volunteer troops. Has anyone heard?

They didn't volunteer for anything like this! This is beyond merely outrageous.
There was a time, when duty was understood as a two way phenomenon. Those who volunteered to defend America were owed a reciprocal duty from those in American Government. This is an outright betrayal of that reciprocal duty.

They volunteered for the military. After that they follow orders.

What do you mean by volunteer?

Everyone in the US armed forces is a volunteer, as there is no draft or conscription. They didn’t volunteer for this mission, though, if that’s what you mean. It doesn’t work that way.
