This weekend marked the 24th annual Pumpkin Festival in Keene, New Hampshire, but instead of good times and fun, festivalgoers found themselves in the middle of a riot when a fight broke out and spilled into the streets.

The facts about the mayhem at the Pumpkin festival have been intentionally skewed to blame the mayhem on over indulgence of alcohol. While the alcohol played a role in the mayhem, the real blame rests with organizers of drug legalization protest that sent out the word to supporters from other colleges in New England to come to Keene for a raucous and destructive good time. The point of which was to get some people arrested for smoking marijuana, not for mayhem and destruction. There is video of the two middle aged men doing just that, while organizing the protest with a bull horn and handing out lit marijuana jonts. The video shows the organizer being handcuffed.

Keene, New Hampshire is 95.3% white and 0.6% black.

We must take a moment and consider the hardships the students at Keene College must endure.
When they go to bed each night, they have to how their parents are going to come up the $30.000 a year in tuition. Will mom have to get a job? Will dad have to sell the vacation home in the Hamptons or even worse the ski lodge in Vermont?
And they must live with the shame and embarrassment of having to drive mom’s hand me down 2012 Land Rover. What will the other kids think? Will they make fun of me? Will they think I am one of those disadvantaged students on partial scholarship?
Cracker school.
Those liberals could use a little diversification. I say we busload a bunch up there.
These clown in New England schools know all about racial issues and diversity but they’re all crackers. They don’t have a clue about reality.

Keene NH is predominantly white, but it also has a strong “Occupy” crowd and drug legalization contingent. They were a big problem earlier in the year with groups constantly drawing political chalk drawings in the town square that were considered pretty aggressive and hostile at times, even marking up historical landmarks. Town members were upset at the way it was impacting business and tourism and were trying to get an ordinance in place to regulate chalk graffiti. These might be some of the same troublemakers.

Until you have walked in their shoes, don’t exploit the Clash simply to besmirch the students who must endure life on the rough streets of Keene, New Hampshire.
When they listen to the Clash or Bob Marley, they get it, as they have been there too, as Keene is not unlike a Jamaican slum or dreadful London flat in Hammersmith back in 1977.
Think about the stress of getting out of your 4:00 p.m. “Classic New England Literature of the Early 21st Century” class and not being sure you can make it to your candy apple red BMW 7-Series and drive it all the way to the Urban Outfitters store before they close?

This only confirms what I've been saying all along. There should be stricter federal control of pumpkins.
At a minimum, you should have to show an ID and fill out a form when buying a pumpkin. And that goes for squash too.
