Great, gubmint redtape to the rescue. Please tell me why we can’t fire 95% of federal “work” force?

With the way FedGov has handled this issue so far the hospital should say “screw you” and keep using it.

The hospital should use it on suspect patients, and post the test on YOUTUBE and tell the FDA to F.O.

It almost seems like the government wants to let ebola have a toe-in.

The company told Defense One that BioFire Dallas Presbyterian Hospital was in possession of FilmArray for up to two years. In short, current FDA guidelines limit the machines to research use only, the website reported. Hospitals that do receive FDA approval to use the devices to diagnose patients must then wait up to 20 days before using it in such a capacity, the website reported.
The FDA didnt immediately respond to Defense Ones request for comment.

If they couldn't use it, why did they buy it?
Sounds like Texas Ebola Presbyterian is not a well-managed institution.

Maybe the govt. does NOT want to stop Ebola, because Ebola takes our minds off everything else.

Bring Out Your Dead
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
