The Kurds have always wanted their own country. It's an old wish. However, to GET that land either Syria, Turkey, Iran and/or Iraq would have to give the Kurds some of THEIR own land.

Maybe I am wrong and misjudge the Syrians, Turks, Iranians and Iraqis, but, given their past histories of seemingly ENDLESS warfare between and among them, I seriously doubt that the Kurds will get even one foot of land from any of them. Do YOU see any one of those nations giving the Kurds ANY land, even desert and rocks?

Maybe I'm not being as optimistic as I could be. Google the Kurds and read about the ENDLESS strife that has been a part of their daily lives for as long as there have been Kurds.
I hope they get their wish but I don't see it. Also, I don't think that the USA should go to war for them.

You are the one in denile. You claim to have spent time over there and make every one else out to be ignorant of anything over there.

Well it does not take many videos put out by ISIL to tell that they don’t have this ladies family or herself in their best interest. You call her a moron for fighting against bloodthirsty killers who have no morals but it is you who is acting moronic.

I will glady take up arms for my family and so would my wife. Am I a moron?

Oh and the Kurds or any Muslim for that matter I would never supply a weapon to. They have proven time and time again to be untrustworth. For well over a eon they have tried to kill anyone who does not kneel down to them if they thought they could get away with it.

Your time in Saudi Arabia was a protect time because they knew they needed you. The time may come when they may attack us. Just look at where the 9-11 attackers mostly came from.

You’re just mad because you know that sending women into battle has the potential to be as powerful against jihadis from a strategic standpoint as a nuclear bomb.

I'd say that AK-47 she carries evens up the odds considerably.

Yes it sure would.

===========================================

Would YOU want to risk any of the women in your family to be at the mercy of ANY of those ISIS/ISIL men as a POW?

I remember reading of and hearing of the desperation of the Japanese when they were OBVIOUSLY losing the war in the Pacific. They sent their 18-year-old men on KAMIKAZI missions: GUARANTEED death, but an honorable death. It's impossible to fight that kind of ... dedication and desperation. The Japanese did that, EVEN THOUGH they knew that they were sending their YOUNG MEN to death for a LOSING CAUSE.
My mother was here on the West Coast and she was POSITIVE that California was the next target of the Japanese bombers...as were MOST folks here on the West Coast. We still have the huge, concrete bunkers, thankfully UNUSED, from those days. She was wrong, but she didn't know that for an agonizingly long time.

I THINK that the men of ISIS/ISIL have that kind of desperation and wouldn't hesitate a second to misuse captured ANY POWs, male or female.

Their OWN women fighting with them in the trenches, so to speak, would have be a distraction to them. How horrible for them to witness their own "sisters" being blown to bits in front of their eyes. They would, of course, be worried about protecting THEM first. MOST men in this world are brought up to be chivalrous, especially towards their own women.
How unspeakably heartbreaking for the parents and families of those young women.

Those young women DO have a choice to fight or not fight, but it seems to me that they MIGHT be more useful in some other NON-COMBAT parts of the war.
WOMEN have always fought for their country but their fighting can't be hand-to-hand with men. Their fighting can be JUST as deadly.

From Wikipedia
MATA HARI: Margaretha Geertruida "Margreet" Zelle MacLeod (7 August 1876 – 15 October 1917), better known by the stage name Mata Hari, was a member of the Frisian minority from the Netherlands, and was an exotic dancer and courtesan who was convicted of being a spy and executed by firing squad in France under charges of espionage for Germany during World War I.

Who knows how many lives HER spy-intel cost the Allies. SHE had as much guts as any male soldier. She just "fought" in a way that she COULD be most effective.

OOOooo, people HATE spies. Their deaths PROBABLY aren't ever simple, easy or quick.

I don’t know if they’ll ever get their own country, though sections carved from northern Iraq and Syria might be a remote possibility. But the current fight is against bloodlusting islamo-demons who want to slaughter everyone in their way. That’s the more immediate urgency.

You’re confused between traditional arguments against women in combat and something entirely different.

If we ever get to a point in this country where the enemy is beheading children in public, you’re gonna see American women warriors like you’ve never even thought of.

The silence from agenda armchair generals will be deafening.

There are arguments regards training women for combat roles, and then sending them to theatres of war to carry the same responsibilities and packs, ammo etc as men, in combat.

This case in not one of those.

These are the female half of the population, whose men are beheaded or shot while they kneel at the ditch, whose babies are beheaded for amusement, and whose women folk are gangraped over and over, then either beheaded, or if still worth something, sold as sex slaves to other jihadis.

THOSE women, they have a choice, bow to ISIS, or grab a rifle and shoot the pigs where they stand, relentlessly, and with great prejudice.

For this, some here attempt to wax eloquent that this is not lady like of them, or perhaps they are inferior, not up to snuff, as it were.

Those ISIS/ISIL women over there who CHOOSE to fight for their country have MANY role models in human history. However, "hand-to-hand" combat with men? They would die a wasted death.
It WOULD work, however, if they WORE body bombs so that their attacker would blow up with them. NO ONE doubts their courage, least of all ME. Bravery has little to do with gender, faith, national origin, size or age. In fact, these women MIGHT be angrier just because they aren't a man's equal in hand-to-hand combat.
I would THINK that those women would want their death to count for something. Dying and taking out some of the enemy might be a meaningful death to them.

Maybe the Iraqis and Syrians would be open to some kind of quid pro quo arrangement with the Kurds. Since Kurds are also Muslim, that might be a possibility.

FWIW: The Sikhs of India are, generally, an anathema to the Hindus (due to their very own personal version of Hinduism), but the Sikhs are the country's police and military. The "arrangement" seems to work for India and its Sikh population.

BTW, although the fighting may be of immediate urgency to you, I seriously doubt if anything even remotely resembling a solution will occur in our lifetime.
The people over there have been fighting with each other as long as that area has had people. They fight over what all humans fight over (Sociology axiom):

land, money, power, status.

Wow, you sure have a lot of drive on this thing. You really want to convince people that women shouldn’t fight back when the situation in their country has deteriorated to the point where children are beheaded in the streets.

If it ever gets like that here, you’re gonna see women with guns in every yard, back alley, empty lot, public square and behind every blade of grass.

These women are willing to die. And for every hundred of them with a weapon, large numbers of those ISIS beasts will die. I rest my case.

Sorry, going after children like they are changes everything. And I have no tolerance for stupid, brainless arguments.

You assume that these women have a choice to leave this area. You point out that others are just quessing what is going on over there while you have been there. I would like to know when the last time you were in the Kurds area? Was it since ISIL had moved in. My guess is you have not been there anytime recently.

I agree that women in hand to hand combat is not a good thing. I also agree if women could be left in the rear it would be better. That said I don’t believe that is possible here. I believe the videos put out by ISIL to be true more than your opinion. If you would care to look at what they do to people you would see that it does not matter if you are are a woman or child. Theywill do with you what they want. Therefore this women may have no choice but to fight.

And let’s face it does not take much to shot a rifle or pistol. Both of these can be used to prevent hand to hand combat.

My impression of you is that you have lived a sheltered life and you are ignorant of what you profess to know so much about.

True. Their faith is by the SWORD, not by the WORD.

==========================================

Your time in Saudi Arabia was a protect time because they knew they needed you.
True enough. They simply DO NOT have the population to produce enough engineers and such to EVER be on their own.

==========================================

The time may come when they may attack us.
TRUE also, but not while petroleum is $95.00/barrel and we, the "West" are the largest consumers of that petroleum.
My husband worked in their LNG plants, as they used to BURN OFF their natural gas. Their country looked like a Christmas tree at night. FINALLY, someone with brains figured out how to capture the gas, LIQUIFY it, bottle it in huge thick metal containers, store it and ship it to the world.

Also, the American oil men first went there in the 1920's so the business arrangement between the two nations is of LONG standing and won't be easily broken because of a few malcontents. The Saudis LIKE having their wealth.
It's made them a whole lot healthier because they now have TOP NOTCH medical care. Their lives are markedly better with better food, water, mosquito abatement, doctors, education...just everything.

One of the national "stats" over there was that way BACK WHEN, before the American oil men came in, there was 100% occurrence of malaria in Saudi Arabia. EVERYONE had malaria to some extent.

The company sprayed with all the DDT outlawed throughout the planet and FINALLY the kingdom was malaria-free...the first time EVER in their history.

That changed BACK again when the companies started bringing in CHEAPER labor from East Africa. Those workers had malaria, to some extent, and their blood RE-INFECTED the healthy Saudi mosquitoes.

When WE went there we had to get SHOTS for everything, even a POLIO booster.
****Yes, they may attack us, but they are a PATHETICALLY small nation with NO combat experience, weapons or soldiers. What jet fighters they have were bought from us. What training their pilots have is from us.
WHY would they make war on their GOLDEN GOOSE, with whom they've been friends for almost 100 years?

TRUE STORY: My husband and I went to the Najmah (Saudi Arabia) camp gate to pick up a Pakistani (Thanksgiving) dinner guest. The ONE Saudi guard, guarding the ENTIRE ARAMCO camp, had one of his boots off and was picking his feet with his bayonet.

There WERE more guards at the refinery, which abutted our camp to the northeast.

==========================================

Just look at where the 9-11 attackers mostly came from.
True enough

They were all Saudis who were denied entrance to EVERY Muslim country they tried to enter, even Pakistan, which never, ever listens to anyone and does EXACTLY what IT wants to do.

NO ONE wanted them.

They were TROUBLE that NO Muslim country would allow in. So they came here. They thought that they were SO in the right.

==========================================

The KSA will run out of petroleum in about 200 years. THEN, they will have, they hope, an educated population that can deal with the future with MUCH hope.

Their ‘educated population” thinks Sharia Law and public beheadings is a good thing.

Lol

Why am I not surprised from someone who equates reason and faith

I suppose the fact historically only desperate parties used women as soldiers was the result of male oppression

I suppose women can perform keyboard duties and support like in IDF

but anything beyond that in combat roles defies er....reason

This whole notion is foisted by progressives who hate the military and asked for by female brass who need some combat theatre time for career movement

Yes...if the Huns are in the wall...everyone fights but the purpose is don't let it get that far

Cultures typically protect their women and kids....but modern minds see all that came first as evil and oppressive

Generational moral arrogance....its like heroin to progressives

I would want them to fight back to WIN, not to be slaughtered.
Look in your history books to read about how MANY women fought back...and won. They DIDN'T do it with brute force because they would have been DEAD women. They fought to win...and they did.

================================

What makes you think that I DON'T have a handy little Beretta, locked and loaded, of my own? I don't need it in my pathetically quiet neighborhood, but there ARE other parts of the city and state that aren't so safe.

Sorry, going after children like they are changes everything. And I have no tolerance for stupid, brainless arguments.
Ditto.
So, bye-bye and put me on your NO-RESPONSE list. You're on mine now.

An educated population does not take that long. Look at what Japan did from 1880 to WWII. I don’t believe that want an educated population.
