For the life of me I cannot figure out those numbers.
How can a “total” ever be less than any of the constituents? Why can I not add white and “all other” together and get total?
Likewise in the rest of that paper. Males always have a bigger number than the “total”.
What am I missing? And no, I did not dive in to read any explanations....
It was in June, so definitely not the first day of school. But it did say they picked him up from school.
Frankly they looked more white trash to me (unmarried shack-ups, BTW).
Despite popular belief, there ARE places in Baltimore that are still “blue-collar” (i.e., white) as well as well-off places which are basically white.
However, if they were by Greenmount, likely that is not a good place. Hampden, OTOH, is an old blue-collar place famous for its Christmas displays (although, this year they may be protesting THAT by not displaying, because of some damn regulatory garbage).
I have a feeling whites are going to continue to be stupid and place themselves on city public transportation. Whites who chose to live and/or work in black areas...the stupid can’t be helped. The cities disarm citizens. The politicians and teachers and parents encourage the racial attacks on whites. We have been through this all before.
I guess boomer parents did not tell their children the truth about why they live in the suburbs. I told my children the truth.
if a minority stays a minority in an area, chances are good that some of them will remain law abiding and social....but if that minority grows to be the majority, look out......there is no law strong enough to protect people...
When our daughter lived in Baltimore, a black police officer told her never to ride the bus. Good advice.
I know there has always been problems, but when has the black on white crime ever reached the epidemic proportions that it has in recent years? BTW, I already left California, but I always stayed out of the black areas. My mother didn't raise any idiots either.
Sadly, many "conservatives" seem all to willing to fan those same divisive flames by using highly inflammatory racial speech which employs the broadest of brushes.
Such reckless hostility plays right into the hands of those who seek to divide Americans from Americans, and it's just as wrongheaded as when it's indulged in by bigoted elements of the black community.
I understand the rage, but I see far too much irresponsible venting on both sides.
We should be striving for unity, and continuously acknowledge the fact that there are enormous numbers of blacks who are equally appalled by the behavior of their brethren.
We should remain vigilant about unwittingly driving these wiser elements of the black community into the ranks of the race-baiters (a natural reaction) when "our side" uses similarly irresponsible, overgeneralized racial rhetoric.
We should be better than that. Nonetheless, I expect my own relatively benign comments to engender excessively hostile responses from the knee-jerk crowd.

Charm City appeared to have a good ‘mix’ in a lot of what one may consider ‘Ghettos’ - now I am talking a few years ago anyway.
When I was making late night deliveries, if I pulled into a neighborhood or apartment complex (rarely had a delivery in an Apt Complex), a ‘rough’ looking neighborhood wasn’t always bad but if a lot of junked cars on street, no decorations up during Holiday periods, screen doors hanging off, lawns growing wild, lot of ‘messy’ graffiti etc, the client would get a phone call and either meet me on the street or at front door - If I didn’t have to park to far away. I have had one or two tell me I must have thought they were crazy if I expected them to come out at that time of night.

In the 60’s and 70’s. It stopped after whites moved out of the cities and took power away from the illiberal racist party. The cities just about died. Wall Street considered moving because people did not want to work there because of black on white crime.
I believe it was the early 80’s when we had a form of “knock out king” - it was called “wildin’”. Same exact MO. Gang of black thugs besetting upon a white man or woman in the city.
Then we got mandatory sentencing to take power away from liberal judges who permitted the attacks to go unpunished. We fought in States to get white men equal rights with minorities and women in school and job opportunity. A Black Californian, Conner (I may have his name wrong), led that fight. We stopped supporting race baiting in political power. We made radicals who promote hate for power political poison for the Rinos and the Dems.
I believe that would be Ward Connerly. He went to the same college my son is near graduating from, CSUS. I wonder if this will ever turn around? I can see the racists on the other side will NEVER let up. Will it take a race war to stop this madness?
You are basically correct in attitude and desire.
There is only one problem. Much like the “Moslem” problem. It is the culture.
You are indeed right that there are blacks, e.g., who do not like what is happening in their cities, etc., but they are far and few.
When blacks vote 90% (low estimate!) lockstep the same way all the time, the picture is clear.
Other minorities may vote majority Dem, but they are not as totally predictable.
It’s a pretty good guess black attitudes and actions on just about anything are going to be 90%+ the same predictability.
I took that to mean that the numbers represent x-occurrences per 100,000 of a race population or in some cases a group of races or all races were considered.
Elsewhere in the report I understand that in 1993 (the first line) data for approximately 83% of the population was collected from 10,000+ sources and figures for the rest were extrapolated.
I never paid much attention to TOTAL I assumed it represented the arrest rate per 100,000 for the population of the country at the time. But I see that it is a puzzle.
I have to leave it to more knowledgeable people for that and to explain why or why not the column figures do or do not add up. But as I understand the figures..

Hey! If it turns out that these numbers show whites get arrested six to nine times more often that blacks then great! Truth is the objective. Whites outnumber blacks six to nine times -- in fact in the 1960s it was 10-to-1 thus black revolutionaries' slogan "Take ten!"
But I don't think the numbers show that.
That is obvious to FReepers but others may not get it.
Still not even an attempt to explain what total means anywhere that I looked so far.
Marcus Garvey preached that message in the early years of the 20th Century. His "Back to Africa" movement was voluntary and would have been effective but liberals opposed it and shut him down.
Imagine if he had succeeded with his plans of a "Black Star Line". The Tulsa race riots would never have happened, Reginald Denny wouldn't have been beaten to within an inch of his life and places like East St. Louis, Newark and Camden might actually be civilized today.
Your entire comment is a must read and states the facts in an honest manner not colored by emotion or rancor. The numbers don't lie. The reality is that for every Clarence Thomas, there are around 90 Trayvon Martins. Likewise, for every Allen West (himself a wee bit soft on the matter of Travon), there are some 90 Michael Browns.
It's not the color, it's the culture. And I fear that the culture is beyond the point of being redeemed. And frankly, I place large part of the blame on a Republican, none other than Chief Justice Earl Warren. He probably meant well but his rulings set the stage for the mess we see all too clearly today.

There’s a case in Idaho, where a city is threatening to prosecute the owner’s of a wedding chapel for not allowing same-sex weddings. At some point and it is approaching the people and the States are going to tell the Feds “enforce this!!” and ignore them.
I'm going to guess that the driver had some sort of relationship with the boy she called (either family or personal), and he got the rest of his street gang buddies to come along.
There are those in the “Pundit industry” and that includes Hugh Hewitt who believe Obama quite innocently stumbles while using the “Bully Pulpit” into creating this racial division on the occasions of the Zimmerman trial and the Feguson shooting. “Because he isn’t that smart”.
A remark which Hewitt has made about him in reference on another matter. I don’t. Obama is a ruthless, cold, calculating fish who is highly directed toward his changes and goals. On this race issue Obama knew what he was doing both times.He has to keep the home race fires burning and relies on the race issue to keep the “constitutionalists dogs” on a short leash so they can’t rip him apart if they move toward any well deserved censure and impeachment proceedings.
Guys like Hewitt and too many others because of that arrogance fail to understand or confront or accept the Rove tactic not to confront the reason behind these machinations.
Take for instance the climate change strawman. That’s brought up to change the focus of discussion away from internal ineptitude or even the regimes position on Islam. They’re never dismissed using “I don’t believe you actually think man can change the weather which is what you want US to look at and not (cite an issue).. that counter punch you’ll never hear.
