Cruz: We Don't Need Obama's Ebola Czar, We Need a President Who Will Lead
Breitbart ^ | 17 Oct 2014, 11:24 AM PDT | Matthew Boyle

Posted on 10/17/2014 11:49:52 PM PDT by SoConPubbie

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said on Friday that America doesn’t need an Ebola czar, but in fact needs leadership from President Barack Obama—and needs a president who will ban travel to and from Ebola-stricken nations.

“We don't need another so-called 'czar'; we need presidential leadership,” Cruz said in response to the president appointing Ron Klain—Vice President Joe Biden’s ex-chief of staff, who was at the center of the 2009 stimulus bill and the Solyndra scandal—as Ebola czar. “This is a public health crisis, and the answer isn't another White House political operative.”

Cruz said that instead of a czar, Obama should be leading by banning flights from Africa and securing the border with Mexico.

“The answer is a commander in chief who stands up and leads, banning flights from Ebola-afflicted nations and acting decisively to secure our southern border,” Cruz said. “The Ebola outbreak shouldn't be treated as yet another partisan battle by the White House; rather, we should come together in bipartisan unity to take these common-sense steps to protect the American people.”

Cruz said that if the president won’t take action, Congress should reconvene now and pass a flight ban.

"And if the President will not act, if he will not lead, then Congress should immediately reconvene for an emergency session to enact a flight ban and take any other necessary measures to protect the health and safety of Americans,” Cruz said.

The new “Czar” knows diddly squat about stopping the spread of Ebola in the US. He is a political “mechanic”. His job is to save Obama’s political ass, spin for Obama, buy opposition when he can and reward loyal supporters.

Ted, thats not gonna happen. you know that. Since you know that ans since you alone have the balls, it is long past time for you to start talking about A25. And if you meet resistance from Jonbon and the girls, then call them on it.

Be the leader we hope you really are. The leader we all want you to be.

DO IT.

Obama’s choice of a purely political nominee demonstrates that this is going to be purely a political position. Instead of an “Ebola Czar”, equipped to direct a real response to a health crisis, we have gotten an “Ebola Spin Czar”, equipped to try and protect Obama from the fallout of the crisis.

That’s not what I heard. I read somewhere that he has learned a great amount of knowledge of medicine, gained from the last time he got a gloved finger exam from his doctor.

Are you talking about impeachment?

If so, then maybe think again about your own statement:

“Since you know that ans since you alone have the balls...”

Cruz can’t do anything about impeachment alone, it would take a whole lot more people with balls to get over that hill.

Impeached? He could behead a troop of girl scouts on the White House lawn during the Easter Egg roll, butcher them, barbecue them and serve them to all the participants and he still wouldn’t be impeached. And if you criticized him about it, the press would say “it’s a black thing” and accuse you of being a racist tea bagging rethuglican for bringing it up while licking their fingers and asking Michelle what kind of “awesome” spice rub they’re using and beg for more of that “delicious” macaroni & cheese and a refill of their Kool-aid.

True, and I know I am just dreaming, but a veto proof Congress could at least get us through the next two years without too much damage.

No, I’m talking about Article 25 of the Con.
++++++++++++

Section 4.

Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.

Thereafter, when the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that no inability exists, he shall resume the powers and duties of his office unless the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive department or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit within four days to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. Thereupon Congress shall decide the issue, assembling within forty-eight hours for that purpose if not in session. If the Congress, within twenty-one days after receipt of the latter written declaration, or, if Congress is not in session, within twenty-one days after Congress is required to assemble, determines by two-thirds vote of both Houses that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall continue to discharge the same as Acting President; otherwise, the President shall resume the powers and duties of his office.

=============\

Homeslice has proven through his actions he is having a mental episode (at best) and is mentally unable to discharge his duties as president.

It could if they ever did anything to actually oppose him. Instead, they fully fund the King and just yesterday flatly stated that we get amnesty if we put them in power.

Well, Cruz can do absolutely nothing in regards to Article 25 on his own, and even with both houses of Congress behind him it would be almost certainly fruitless. Why? Because before any procedure of this nature can commence, this must happen:

“Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.”

Someone outside of Congress (and only from the Executive branch, unless there is another body that Congress has authorized, which I don’t believe they have) must transmit to Congress that the President is unable to serve, or none of the subsequent steps can be invoked.

I think the only possible way this could offer relief is if we gain control of both chambers of Congress, then appoint a body outside of Congress to judge the president’s ability to serve, and they render the message to Congress. Even then, the President can send a simple letter to Congress and force another go-round before he can be removed. Furthermore, even if that is somehow successful, we’d only end up with Biden as President (which creates a large probability of a 2nd Biden term in 2016, and possibly a third in 2020). Talk about a wild goose chase!

Cruz is in a unique position to rally the cause. Which is why I said he should start talking about it. The right trusts him and he hasn’t yet given us a reason not to. So his words carry weight.

It has to start somewhere and Jonbon and Mulch ain’t gonna do it. If they fight him, and they will, let the world see it and cast their votes accordingly. Preferably for conservatives who WOULD dethrone the emperor.

Actually I’ll take Biden with a smile. Compared to this idiot he is a far better choice and merely stupid, not wholly evil. Barry is evil. People like him are evil. Biden would be gridlocked for 2 years and thats the best we can hope for.

“Actually I’ll take Biden with a smile.”

I’m sure a lot of people would take Biden over Obama for 2 years. However, by putting Biden in that position, you boost his chances at winning the Presidency in 2016 significantly. An incumbent President running for office has an almost universal advantage, whereas a Vice President running to succeed their President does not. In that case, it’s a two-edged sword: they may get a boost if the previous President was popular, or a disadvantage if the previous President was unpopular.

Then, there is the problem that putting Biden in office potentially allows him to serve for 10 years. I, for one, don’t like that possibility one bit. 10 years is a whole lot of time to pack the Supreme Court, after all.

Also, you open up Republicans to attacks in the 2016 election with such a maneuver, but give them no actual political advantage. We’d just be damaging our chances all around with that move, and basically accomplishing nothing.

There’s even another nightmare scenario to consider: we remove Obama against Biden’s wishes, and Biden becomes President. He is then free to appoint anyone he wishes as Vice President. There is no obstruction to him simply appointing Obama as the Vice President, and then delegating all of the powers of the Presidency right back to Obama, either by resigning outright, or just taking a long vacation, hospital stay, or what have you. If they were really devious, they could leave Obama as Vice President until 2016, get Biden re-elected, and then Biden could resign and give Obama a third term!

The problem is all of the concersn you list, while legitimate, lead to paralysis by analysis. There is always the chance that the dems could capitalize on anything we do. Always. The alternative is to leave a hard liberal with delusions of Godhood in power.

I am not concerned about Republican chances in 16 or any other year. They proved what they are and they need to be replaces with people more concerned about their country than their party to begin with. If there existed such a creature as a conservative Democrat that actually shared my beliefs I’d vote for him hands down. But there is no such creater.

And outside Cruz and two or three others, there is no such thing as a conservative Republican either. On a thread earlier there was a freeper flabberghasted by the thought that Rand Paul was a liberal, though his past few months define it.

We have to stop thinking solely in terms of ‘winning’ when that win only worsens the problems. We have to start thinking in what will fix this mess, or more realistically, what will BEGIN the path of fixing this mess.

I don’t believe it can be but I intend to go down fighting against the idiocy. Continuing to make excuses for why something ‘can’t’ be done is not going to do anything but assist the left in finishing us quicker.

Yoda logic works. Do or don’t do. There is no try. This, as are most issues, is binary. We either fight out 2 years (at least depending on how badly he decides to cling to power) with Barry, allowing a wannabee deity free reign via the GOP funding/inaction, or we fight it.

No failure on our part will result in more evil than he has planned for us to begin with. Ergo there is no downside. And my personal opinion is that people that want to just keep delaying the inevitable are as much a problem as Barry is. I cannot imagine Washington sitting there in 1775 arguing that King George might somehow be mitigated. He fought.

We aren’t at that point yet. Close though. But if we can’t even act on the constitutional provisions that George gave us to fix exactly this situation/A25, we all need to just give in right here and right now because we are pathetic. You, me/Ted Cruz, all of us.
