Ever had your credit card turned down at a fancy restaurant? President Obama can commiserate.

Speaking to workers at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau in Washington on Friday, he recalled a moment last month when, at the end of a dinner out in New York City, his plastic was declined.

"I guess I don't use it enough, so they thought there was some fraud going on," he said. "Luckily, Michelle had hers. I was trying to explain to the waitress that I've really been paying my bills."

First of all, i don’t believe this ever happened. Secondly, truly “fancy” restaurants have waiters, not waitresses. And the serving staff in a high end restaurant does not deliver the bad news about a declined card, especially to POTUS.

Remember he and his staff stiffed some doughnut shop during the last election campaign?

Must have gotten on his credit report.

Something similar happened to me. Someone changed the address on my credit card account, so that I didn’t receive any bills in the mail. There was also a fraudulent charge on my account at that time which I had to get taken care of.

The security systems they have in place, while better than nothing, are far from foolproof.

“I was trying to explain to the waitress that I’ve really been paying my bills with those handy, ‘Taxpayer Dollars.’”

Maybe the bank is trying to tell him something.
Ya think they don’t know that a card belongs to the President? and don’t have special security in place for cards of very influential people?
“Uh...sir...in total you’re overdrawn by about $8,000,000,000,000. Yeah we’re gonna decline a restaurant payment to get your attention.”

They told him it was declined, and he said, “That’s okay, just charge it to your great-grandchildren. That’s how we do things in Washington.”

A democrat paying their own bill, I'd be suspicious too.

Or it is a staged event to be the equivalent of “I feel your pain”, but in this case “I feel your financial pain”.

It is like her talking about how they struggled under their student loan debt while making hundreds of thousands of dollars a year, trying to relate to people with 80K in student loan debt while making 18K part time.

We even had one case where we called in advance and they still turned it off.

On the other hand some thief called them and persuaded them to change our internet password, issue a new card in a name not ours and send it to Houston where we do not live. We were lucky to catch it before she got the card. Seriously not impressed with their "security."

Think you should give us the name of the bank.

Maybe they declined his card because he was a *perpetrator* of identity fraud, not a victim!
