Nina looked good in the video, but maybe because of the trip(I still dont understand why she had the leave, she really didnt want to go) it took a lot out of her, she did walk to the plane, and with Ebola it already takes a lot out of you its like triple for her. I just want to give Nina a big hug, she is so brave and she has handled this with such dignity and grace I could NEVER respond as well as she did
I think about how cruddy I feel with a severe sinus infection...can’t imagine traveling, especially with something as horrific as Ebola. Plus, they moved her from an environment with people she knew and cared about her to a Fed facility with strangers. You are right, I wouldn’t be that dignified or graceful, more like kicking and screaming. lol.
It was reported that it was a staffing issue at Presby, but from what I read today there was a “suspected” case admitted to Baylor...and transferred to Presby. Go figure.
I understood that there were several at things at play here :
a) Nurses strike - due the the absence of protective equipment ( Level-2 issued/ Level IV disease requested)
b) Inadequate training by administrators who exaggerated hospital capabilities to address Bio-hazard Level IV disease with Level-2 equipment/PPE)
c) Nursing Staff never given more than 15 minutes instruction on how to avoid cross-contamination of their Level 2 equipment.
Several HCW have refused to work under these conditions , and have walked off the job.
The hospital is closed for general sanitation , as her blood was sent via hospital vaccum tube system ,
and there were some concerns that some virus may have escaped during transport.
