A federal judge has struck down Arizona's ban on gay marriage and cleared the way for legally recognized same-sex unions in the state.
The ruling Friday by U.S. District Judge John Sedwick bars state officials from enforcing a 1996 state law and a 2008 voter-approved constitutional amendment that outlawed gay marriage.
Sedwick ordered the state to "permanently cease" its ban on gay marriage and declined to stay his order.
The Arizona decision came after the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled on Oct. 7 that gay marriage prohibitions in Nevada and Idaho violated the equal-protection rights of same-sex couples.
Last week, the U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear appeals from several states seeking to retain their bans on same-sex marriage.
The move effectively legalized gay marriage in about 30 states.

One day these runt dictators will be called to account.
Isaiah 5:20 applies.
We are being judged.
Maybe if our Gov wasn’t a RINO she would fight it. As it is she will embrace diversity.
No matter what.
The 9th Circus Court of Appeals strikes again.
Unfortunately, I do not think this is going to be one of the 93% that get overturned.
This is the lawlessness rampant in the judiciary.....marriage is in the CONSTITUTION OF THE STATE. There is NO marriage definition in the US Constitution...This judge has violated the 1st, 10th, and 14th amendment rights of the citizens of Arizona.
‘Nuff said.
In other news , the State of Arizona will no longer perform or recognize ANY MARRIAGE of any kind. All Persons shall be recognized as Individuals.
Gee, another day, another court ruling imposing homosexual marriage on yet another state.
Geez, there has been a full court press, pardon the pun, in about the last month or so. Numerous court rulings all at once coming out, and all of them imposing homosexual marriage.
None of the court rulings indicated that the states involved were allowed to define marriage. Instead, every single one mandated that the states must allow homosexual marriage.
It’s become a tenet of mainstream legal thought, that we must allow homosexual marriage. Even some judges appointed by Republican presidents have been part of this wave of rulings to impose homosexual marriage on state after state.
It’s amazing that the supreme court has managed to do all this without actually ruling.
When did all these judges hold their meeting?
We’ve gone form government by the people to government by a few appointed feudal lords.
I have trouble understanding why anyone who is gay would want to get married. But it looks like increasing numbers of straight people aren't getting married, either. Paradoxical effect of gay marriage legalization?
When are we going to start impeaching these idiots?
Surprised this is even news anymore.
Just once I would like to see a governor tell the courts to shove their decision where the sun doesn’t shine.
so polygamy should be legal too. These judges are nothing but activists who are pushing the communist manifesto of 63
Why are the feds pimping a subcultures ?.
Like Jack Handy, sometimes I have deep thoughts... like realizing that “Gay Marriage” is an oxymoron.
